BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 If they burn Sanchez today, can they use Happ on short rest for wild card game for Tuesday?
DickeyJohnsonWang Verified Member Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 If they burn Sanchez today, can they use Happ on short rest for wild card game for Tuesday? If WildCard is Tuesday it has to be Stroman right? Only other choice would be Estrada on 3 days rest.. Best would be for Jays win, O's lose, and Tigers win out - then there'd be a tiebreaker Tigers Os on Tueday, and Wild Card game Wednesday, where Estrada could go on 4 days rest (or Happ on 3 days rest?)

I love Stroman but he hasn't won a game in awhile (with not much run support for him) I'd be nervous sending him out there on an elimination game
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 That Detroit game is going to be a clusterf*** of emotions. If the Jays are winning, cheer for the Tigers (in hopes of a O's-Tigers tie). If the Jays are losing, cheer for Detroit to lose.

No Liriano in the conversation? He's been killing it in September since being put back into the rotation.

No way. Boston is a tougher team than the O's or Detroit, you can guarantee Farrell is going with a similar lineup to yesterday, they still need to clinch that home game in the ALDS
Governator Community Moderator Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 I like how all games are scheduled for 3pm to avoid teams throwing games or making line ups based on results.

We have absolutely no need to pitch anybody on short rest. Our entire rotation is fine.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 A case can be made for Estrada but are you sure you want the whole season resting on Stroman or Liriano?

CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Let's do this!! Time for Aaron to show us just how CLUTCH he is!!!! Go Jays!!!
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 We have absolutely no need to pitch anybody on short rest. Our entire rotation is fine. Nah, I wouldn't trust Dickey so hopefully he never starts a game in the postseason.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 A case can be made for Estrada but are you sure you want the whole season resting on Stroman or Liriano? Have them all ready. Happ and Sanchez will be starting the first two ALDS games anyway, should the team get there. Any starter used in the WC would be on regular rest for G3 in Toronto. I think this logic still holds up for a tiebreaker game too.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Liriano is the type of pitcher that could really dominate over 5-6 innings and he's pitched in big games before with the Pirates (wildcard game in 2013 and won: 7IP, 1ER, 5K's), so I wouldn't be that opposed to him starting in the wildcard game. Just have to have a real short leash with him if you think he's close to imploding, so Stroman backing him up wouldn't be a bad idea.

The good thing about Liriano is that when he's off or on, it's usually determined early on. So if he walks the bases loaded in the second inning they can bring on Stroman with hopefully minimal damage. But with his September performance and especially the last two games my money would be on him getting 6+ with 2 runs given up or less.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Liriano should start against the Orioles but not the Tigers.
rydermike Verified Member Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Anyone see Tim and Sid's post. Picture of David Price with the caption that awkward moment when your ex is standing between you and the postseason

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Okay so I just got so much more excited! So apparently a wild card game is truly the worst case scenario!!! For some reason I was confused, BUT if we win today we secure a WC spot and home field advantage!!! I'm not even gonna mention what scenarios will let us clinch if we don't win cuz we gonna win!!!
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Dickey isn't in the rotation... Good chance he won't even be on the playoff roster.
CBlake Verified Member Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Just Win Baby !!! Looking forward to beimg at the dome Tuesday night for the Wild Card.
