Kevin Gausman RHP Gausman was dealing with an intercostal issue this past week and had his start bumped from Sunday to Tuesday. The righty has been great in 10 starts since July, posting a 2.57 ERA. However, he did allow five runs in 6 1/3 innings has last time out. Jays Line-up... 1. Ezequiel Carrera (L) LF 2. Josh Donaldson ® 3B 3. Edwin Encarnacion ® 1B 4. Jose Bautista ® DH 5. Russell Martin ® C 6. Troy Tulowitzki ® SS 7. Michael Saunders (L) RF 8. Kevin Pillar ® CF 9. Darwin Barney ® 2B On the bump... Aaron Sanchez RHP Sanchez has faced the Orioles four times already this season and he's a perfect 3-0 with a 3.38 ERA. He's struck out 18 and walked 10 over those 24 innings. Game Notes Toronto and Baltimore won't need to do any scoreboard watching from Tuesday to Thursday to check in on how the other is doing. They'll know after each pitch. The two American League Wild Card holders open a three-game set at Rogers Centre on Tuesday. The Blue Jays, who lost to the Yankees Monday while the Orioles wre off, hold the top AL Wild Card spot over the O's by one game. After a sweep over Arizona, Baltimore holds a two-game lead over Detroit for the second Wild Card. With both clubs entering the series with just six regular-season games remaining, each win in the series will have major implications in the standings. O's manager Buck Showalter knows what a series win would do to Toronto, but he understands "they can do the same to us." "We are kind of just tunnel vision on that nine innings," Showalter said. "See where we are when the smoke clears. See if any strategy, so to speak, may change from day to day." "There is something to be gained to winning every game you play. There is something to be lost every game you lose. Instead of looking at all things you shoulda, woulda, coulda done to make it a little bit easier, I look at all the things that our guys have done to have this opportunity. … I'm proud of them that it's Sept. 25 and we continue to play important games." Toronto has the right guy on the mound in the opener in Aaron Sanchez (13-2, 3.12 ERA), who is unbeaten in four starts against Baltimore this year. In his past three starts against the Orioles, he's 3-0 with a 1.42 ERA. Baltimore will counter with Kevin Gausman (8-11, 3.57), who was bumped from Sunday's start with an intercostal injury. The righty had a string of five quality starts end his last time out when he allowed five runs in 6 1/3 innings against the Red Sox. Things to know about this game • Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista extended his season-high on-base streak to 33 games with a walk in the first inning Monday. Bautista has heated up in his past six games, with three home runs and eight RBIs. • Despite the Orioles' woes in Toronto, Chris Davis has enjoyed personal success at Rogers Centre. In 47 games at the ballpark, Davis has hit .321 with 17 home runs and 40 RBIs. • In two starts against Toronto this season, Gausman is 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA. He has a 4.15 ERA in 11 career games (six starts) against the Blue Jays.
