What lmao so even that wasn't a Gibby decision? I usually like Gibbons and his decisions (he gets lots of flack on things that aren't in his control/no better options) but today was baaad

According to Pillar the only bunt call Gibby made was the bad one on him. Whatever. We won. We could do worse than Gibby. Most of us know that.

Which probably worries me more. That means the players realize they are having trouble scoring and making adjustments themselves....while the coaches don't adjust....good for the players imo.

For all the s*** Gibbons takes on this forum, he certainly made the right calls today.

Didn't like the calls in the 7th, meh... I don't s*** on managers as much, anyhow.

Well no matter how good the coach is it comes down to the batter to do the job

Things fell right but I'm not sure any of it was on anything well reasoned by Gibby. I think they won despite some questionable strategy.

When he uses seemingly good strategy and it doesn't work out, he still gets s*** on. I'll just go ahead and give him some credit for the Zeke bunt, whether it was a direct call or a green light.

Players for the most part are pretty terrible when it comes to managing a game so they should be directed on what to do.

Gibby said that was Zeke's call to bunt lol not from the dugout

I meant that he had the green light to do it in this situation. They discuss these kinds of things throughout the season.

So what does everyone think about spot starting Dickey tomorrow? Might be smart to save Happ for the Orioles series? Take the better chance to win tomorrow to move up 2 full games on the O's?

I would do it. Yankees offense has been so cold, it could work for us.

Every game is important and I feel actually good about all 5 starters right now. I see no reason to make the move.

Not sure I would. Might rather have the better chance to go up 2.0 games going into the series. I'm willing to be convinced otherwise though.

Either way we have a good chance tomorrow so might as well go with Dickey. Save Happ unless he could have another start by pitching tomorrow.

Assuming the standings make it necessary, he will pitch the second last game of the season @ Fenway. If they bump him from tomorrow, he'll pitch the season finale. The WC game might also be a factor worth considering.

Also note that pushing Happ back is completely my own speculation. MLB.com still has Happ listed and I haven't seen anything about it on Twitter.

Happ's pitching tomorrow fellas.

It makes sense, but Dickey did pitch well his last spot start. It is Gibbons as well. To have Happ against the Os and the Sox in the final game is better to me than against the irrelevant Yanks and Sox.

PS: I really dislike Dickey.

He's pitching tomorrow cause a win is a win... Dickey's done for the year, unless we don't need Sanchez in the last game of the year... to save him for the WC game. It's been their plan all along.

Yup! Probables confirmed so far:

Happ vs. NYY

Sanchez @ BAL

Liriano @ BAL

Stroman @ BAL

The Boston series is interesting. Do you want Sanchez starting in the final spot? If the AL East title is clinched by then I guess we'd want to preserve one of Estrada, Happ or Sanchez for the playoff game. If we're 3 GB we probably line it up as Estrada, Happ, Sanchez for the chance to sweep the Sox and if we drop a game we spot start Stroman for the final game and push Sanchez for the WC start. The beauty of the 6 man!!

It's very possible the season gets played hard to #162. Detroit are getting the f***in Braves next weekend. Hopefully the Indians can continue absolutely skinning the Tigers for the next four.

Atlanta's been playing well, just saying. We just need to keep it rolling, it'll play itself out as long as we win the series against the O's.

I'll be honest I don't want Sanchez starting in that wildcard game if he has another so so outing vs Baltimore. He hasn't been that good in the 2nd half and I feel like Stroman, Estrada and Happ are all better choices.

Call the FO, cause that's how it plays out. Sanchez was fine, you're only as good as your last time out, in this Biz!

Personally I want Estrada to start that. Dude has a knack for big games, saved our asses in the ALDS and ALCS last year lol. But Sanchez would be fine too, it's also worth noting who you'd want starting the first game of the ALDS too

I, for some reason, forgot he existed LOL you're right give Dickster his last game and preserve all arms, that way Liriano can be used in the BP as well if need be

Atlanta could be on a 10-game streak going into the Detroit series and I wouldn't feel confident. Baseball has taught me to never put faith in a terrible team.

Toronto's 3 games up on the Tigers with 7 to play, baseball has taught me this is very, very hard to overcome. Especially, if you take care of your own business.
