If Jose accepts the QO. You tell him in the winter to be prepared to win the First Base job. Hes either gotta DH or play 1B for us next year.

Pretty much this

Though maybe a good time to simply move on completely

Clean break.

I think its going to be clean break. Couple the weak FA market and his 'cache' and he likely gets his overpaid 3 or 4 year deal. Yankees DH? Texas?

EE likely ends up un Boston unless Roger's cracks open the dusty safe full of money.

Bautista is not going to Texas (guaranteed) or to the Yankees. Texas for obvious reasons and Bautista's bat doesn't play well at Yankee stadium and the Yankees are not spending until after the 2018 season. Either one of Bautista or EE will end up in Houston.

Rogers doesn't have a "safe full of money" trust me, they laid off a bunch of people a few months back, the general public thinks Rogers just prints money, it is so annoying.

Agreed. Alex Meyer, tomorrow's Angels starter, has no business being an MLB starter--he needs to be in the bullpen. Long day ahead for the Angels bullpen tomorrow..

You're a beacon of wisdom man

And you can count out the Red Sox as well from getting EE or Bautista. With $200M already committed for 2017 and needing multiple arms in the bullpen and possibly another starter (Bradley might get dealt for pitching), plus Boston already deep into repeater tax penalties (may face a 40% penalty in 2017 if they're over the tax). More likely they go after Beltran or Napoli for DH as a short term option until some younger players like Devers and Travis are ready.

Unless they move HanRam or Sandoval (0% chance because HanRam, despite the rebound, has too much money committed for anyone to take on, and no team will take Sandoval), Boston won't be able to afford to make any big moves this offseason.

Layoffs are to help out share holders keep making higher dividends by cutting expenses and has nothing to do with losing money as a matter of fact it is more to do with keeping whatever money they have in the safe.......
