BlueJays Verified Member Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 DFA Edwin No joke Yeah, that guy is blind with RISP. Too bad he didn't do his useless solo HR
Belliss101 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Well the good thing is that we guaranteed gain ground on one of them if we win, considering how many times both of them have won when we did (or when we lost). Is the last month a true indication of what the offense is, or is this just a cold stretch that will eventually turn the other way.
TheGrandslamMan Verified Member Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Eh I agree with you! Stupid is stupid. But I can't blame a guy for irrationally lashing out after such an infuriating game Indeed! It was the most anti-climatic s*** ever! Like having an 8 jump in bed with you and at the last minute decide that she "just wants to go to bed"
Belliss101 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 13 strikeouts tonight. This is getting stupid now. For the love of God, stop trotting out Smaok and Upton every day. Please God just intervene and stop this madness
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 @Belliss: Edwins been the clear-cut team MVP... We can't start losing our s*** because he rolled over one in a sensational situation. Actually, that wasn't rolled over, it was hit over 103 mph... a near carbon copy of game 6 against the Royals last OCT, that guy's a f***ing troglodyte, don't bother.

Please God just intervene just stop this madness Donaldson also has been really shaky as of late. Tulo and Travis seem like the only ones that have been relatively consistent. We'd probably be in first by at least 5 games if we had anywhere near the offence of last year after the ASB.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 August 16th 2016 will be the last day we hold first place for a long time.

jerb Verified Member Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 That's Zubes, Baby! @the_Zubes Seems like a lot of these Jays scoring opportunities are going ..... ..... Upton Smoak.

True. I should have said that he got on top of it. It sucks and all, but baseball is largely a game of luck... You can demolish a pitch right at a guy for an out or you can jammed with a lousy swing and dunk one in for a single. I still hate anyone hating on Eddy... Bautista, sure. He kinda deserves it this year, but lets not get carried away.

I hope you're referring to RealAccountant and not me. Lol I was the one saying the Edwin comment was stupid.

TheGrandslamMan Verified Member Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 I don't know what Shapiro was thinking extending that guy for. I'm actually a big fan of the new regime (even though I was initially skeptical) but the Smoak contract makes no sense... May as well just roll with Collabello.

One is a cheater fraud and the other just plain sucks. I say we go with someone fresh.

He was extended just to make sure we had a backup if we couldn't sign Edwin in the offseason and they think he is a good defensive 1B. Hopefully he gets cut or traded in the offseason or sooner.
TheGrandslamMan Verified Member Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 It's the equivalent of having the measles. At least the measles go away I liked the idea of having Smoak play in the AL East. I thought he may just be a less talented Mark Trumbo piece who could potentially rake up some big numbers over here... But at this point the experiments failed... Why extend the guy at this point?

Hopefully he gets cut or traded in the offseason or sooner. I understand the need for having a back-up plan, but for 8.5 million you're better off giving "scraps" to Collabello to serve as a back-up plan.. And if that fails the scrap heap is always littered with aging power hitters who could potentially be revitalized by playing in the Dome.

TheGrandslamMan Verified Member Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Insurance. But Gibbons insists on using him daily I hear ya... I thought his skill-set would serve us well, but its' not. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but my recollection recalls him being s*** off the bench too... I just don't see the upside anymore... ... Of course now he'll probably hit 30+ home-runs next year and everyone will be re-posting this message to shove in my face.

TheGrandslamMan Verified Member Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 The 8.5 million could be utilized in far more effective ways.
