HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 what's hellickson's asking price again? One team's Top 5 prospect.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 It was a bad contract when he signed it and hes been bad in MIN with a suspension. Why would anyone want him if they had to pay his salary? He's the classic example of a steady-yet-unimpressive innings-eater who doesn't put up a flashy strikeout rate or ERA but at the end of the year his decent 200 innings are worth around 2.5 WAR.
Nabru Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Deja Vu anyone? Are the Reds becoming the O's of the NL Central?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 1, 2016 Author Posted August 1, 2016 Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal 59s59 seconds ago Source: #Marlins getting Luis Castillo back, with Rea returning to #Padres. Wow! San Diego must have had a pretty good idea about an existing injury.

Why would anyone want him if they had to pay his salary? He hasn't been bad, he just hasn't been great. But he doesn't need to be at his cost. 1.3 WAR in half a season last year and 2 already this year. He's a perfectly reasonable option @13.5 million a year considering the numbers he has put up.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Solid guy to run out there every 5 days. Better than Dickey.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Who does he replace? Hutch is better IMO.
King Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Gregor Chisholm tweeting fake Buster Olney account. Ahh twitter
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Who does he replace? Hutch is better IMO. Should replace Dickey, but my bet would go into the pen until we decide on how we are going to go forward with the rotation....or just have a 6 man rotation
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Gregor Chisholm tweeting fake Buster Olney account. Ahh twitter He's probably the worst Jays beat reporter hahaha
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Who does he replace? Hutch is better IMO. Sanchez insurance maybe?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 1, 2016 Author Posted August 1, 2016 No one here fall for the Fake Buster Olney account. We are better than that.

Gives rest to Estrada and Sanchez.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 As often as this guy has been wrong in his life it might be worth getting Santana. reads like a Trump tweet lol
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Solid guy to run out there every 5 days. Better than Dickey. Yeah I think so too But we're still stuck with Dickey
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 reads like a Trump tweet lol More like a Canseco tweet lol
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Lol, Gregor Chisholm accidentally retweeted a fake Buster Olney account regarding Santana to the Jays being a done deal and the Fan is now reporting it.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 $28M the next two years for him is so gross.
pickoff22 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Who does he replace? Hutch is better IMO. Well he hasn't been better than Santana in any of the years he's been in the bigs and obviously there's a lack of confidence from the organization (and most fans) in how Hutch will produce. I would have more faith in Santana personally. As to who he will replace it's a reasonable question and I don't know the answer. I'm sure it would be a criticized move no matter what the answer. I would prefer jamming Dickey in the pen, telling Thole to take a walk and using Santana in the rotation. But that's likely not going to happen.

UKBlueJaysFan Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 6 man rotation an awful idea, you get loss quality starts from Happ and Estrada. Especially with Red Sox (assuming they're loading up) need best pitchers going out there as much as possible.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I wonder if the Twins would do Dickey and a prospect for Santana. They get a prospect and less monetary commitment. We get a #5 innings eater to replace Dickey as he is clearly toast. Don't forget Thole
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Dodgers Acquire Josh Reddick, Rich Hill By Jeff Todd | August 1, 2016 at 1:06pm CDT 12:45pm: The Dodges and A’s are in agreement on a deal that will bring Josh Reddick and Rich Hill to Los Angeles, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (via Twitter). In return, per reports, Oakland will pick up an appealing trio of young righties: Frankie Montas, Grant Holmes, and Jharel Cotton.
pickoff22 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 $28M the next two years for him is so gross. Only if you think he somehow projects to be under 2 WAR in each of the next two seasons.

CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 As often as this guy has been wrong in his life it might be worth getting Santana. Damn, talk about being bitter and butthurt.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Jays still talking about Hellickson also
King Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Santana and Centeno for Dickey, Thole and prospect. That's pretty much what it has to be does it not? I don't think we can add Santana's pro-rated salary without sending an equivalent back by the looks of our past couple deals. Kurt Suzuki.
skirbs11 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Send them Dickey and a prospect. Send Thole to the minors and call up Kratz.
