Sorrow Verified Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Watching Barnes I got a comparable delivery and throwing motion to Stroman circa 2014, a lot of that up and down without going too much side to side.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Wonder what the Astros said to Musgrove. Joe, don't worry - Toronto is trash against pitchers they haven't seen before.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Who will be optioned for Liriano, Barnes or Bolsinger?

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Danny BarnesVerified account @DjbMantis Pitching to contact is overrated Nice . Another great mind to help keep Stroman on the right track! On topic, damn was that ever a great debut!
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 The guys got swing and miss stuff, a lot of movement on his pitches
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Hope someone can gif that filth to Correa.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Danny Barnes is trending on Twitter.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I LOVE that he uses the fastball up and in. Grossly underused pitch, as up and in is where contact is weakest and whiff rates are high!

Grossly underused pitch, as up and in is where contact is weakest and whiff rates are high! Totally. He looks just as advertised. I truly hope he dominates down the stretch and beyond for us. The guy definitely has a strong IQ in general and uses it like a boss with his pitching.

thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 f*** that was dirty. Great late movement.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Then Barnes and Musgrove are studs?
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Where is Barnes on Blue Jay prospect lists? Don't recall seeing his name on any. With the value of relievers in MLB, surprising.
Zaun of the Dead Verified Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I really liked what I saw from him last night. I like his delivery. Velocity nothing to write home about, but damn the kid was hitting his spots.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Where is Barnes on Blue Jay prospect lists? Don't recall seeing his name on any. With the value of relievers in MLB, surprising. He was likely somewhere in the 20-30 range. Arms that are essentially groomed as relievers right from the get go aren't usually regarded very highly in protect rankings... Unless they have lights out stuff and are drafted early. Barnes does not have on overpowering fastball and was a 35th round selection is I'm not mistaken. Was always an underdog that just got it done... Even after coming back from a torn rotator cuff.

Shapiro said 5 innings of starting is less valuable then 2 high leverage relief innings Also 5 of the top 10 most valuable pitchers by analytics in the AL are relievers Shapiros words on the radio last night

Nice.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Our pen looks like it could become a strength at this rate. Tons of strikeouts. Lots of power. Very good sign. If Cecil can find his footing we are going to be a nightmare for teams down the stretch.

It almost sounded like he thought Sanchez to the bullpen would benefit us in the playoffs. He had a lot of confidence in Liriano too. It could be true, Sanchez was so huge last year.

Governator Community Moderator Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 So is Sanchez is in the pen now or is he getting 1 more start?
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 So is Sanchez is in the pen now or is he getting 1 more start? He's making at least one more start. They haven't said if it will be his last for sure. Seems like it though.
