G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2016 Author Posted July 25, 2016 MLBTR: Yankees, Cubs Nearing Aroldis Chapman Trade July 25th, 2016 at 8:48am CST • By Mark Polishuk 8:48am: Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports (links to Twitter) that the Cubs would send four players to the Yankees in the deal. In addition to Torres, former Yankees right-hander Adam Warren would likely return to New York. Candelario, according to Sherman, is not in the deal. The trade has the approval of Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner, Sherman notes. Rosenthal tweets that the trade is in its final stages, and the players have been agreed upon. 8:32am: Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports tweets that if the deal is completed, there will be “much more” than just Torres and another prospect in the deal. 8:19am: Jorge Soler will not be included in this trade, reports Jon Morosi of MLB.com (on Twitter). George A. King III of the New York Post reports that switch-hitting third baseman Jeimer Candelario could be in play, however. JULY 25, 7:30am: The Cubs and Yankees are on the verge of agreeing to the deal, reports USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, citing a high-ranking but anonymous Cubs official. The deal would send Torres and one other prospect, per Nightengale.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Conflicting reports that they are talking about an extension too. Honestly the Cubs should just go for it and sell the farm. They have the payroll to sign free agents and a current young roster at pretty much every spot.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2016 Author Posted July 25, 2016 I can't imagine giving up a package like that without an extension
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Is this a net negative or positive for jays ws chances in 2016? Net positive No Chapman is good we play Yankees a lot
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2016 Author Posted July 25, 2016 Cubs are mad It's almost like they don't realize that have a core that will have them in contention for years to come
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Anyone else get the feeling Chapman is going to suck after the extension and he has cashed in. This is a guy who is pulling a gun in his house, I think once he gets his hands on even major dough it will pretty much end his dominance
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2016 Author Posted July 25, 2016 What a massive profit move by Cashman though flipping him f***
Cyborg Verified Member Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Kinda a weird trade since Chapman will have pretty much 0 effect on Cubs playoff odds. Its all to overwork him out of the pen in the playoffs.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Cubs are just dealing guys that are blocked. Warren sucks, and Vogelbach and Torres have nowhere to play.

Also, he doesn't even need a gun he should just get a holster for a baseball.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2016 Author Posted July 25, 2016 If this is the package in a done deal, how much better is it than the package the Yankees sent to Cinci to get him in the first place? (Or is it for sure)
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 I can't imagine they would trade Gleyber without an extension for Chapman.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 If this is the package in a done deal, how much better is it than the package the Yankees sent to Cinci to get him in the first place? Torres alone blows the Yankee package out of the water.
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Torres alone blows the Yankee package out of the water. Yea this, Cub's top prospect vs the scrap heap Yankees shipped out.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Great trade for the Yankees, long-term.
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Can extension talks be part of a trade midseason? I know AA did it with Dickey but that was in the offseason. Don't know if that makes a difference.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2016 Author Posted July 25, 2016 Great trade for the Yankees, long-term. Yankees are probably willing to punt one more year in 2017 if they have to. Fans won't like it but with more shrewd moves they could be in annoyingly good shape by 2018/2019. Farm getting stronger, and lots of dead $ coming off the books just as big impact free agents come available.

Don't know if that makes a difference. That's up to Chapman and his agent. The Cubs are an incredible team, so if they offer to pay him market value, I don't see why he wouldn't consider it.

Governator Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 No rules against it that I've ever heard So they can say we'll agree to the trade but we want to talk to Chapman first?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2016 Author Posted July 25, 2016 So they can say we'll agree to the trade but we want to talk to Chapman first? Yes. Can tell the Yankees trade is contingent on him agreeing to an extension. Just like AA did with the Mets as you said Hmmmm.... FU RA Dickey for agreeing to the extension. Lmao.
baseballsss Verified Member Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 So they can say we'll agree to the trade but we want to talk to Chapman first? Yah they can do that. Basically they'll agree upon a time frame in which an extension has to be done and if it is not then trade off.

Governator Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 C'mon Yankees, you know you want Storen.
