harvey16 Verified Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 As we slowly approach the deadline at the end of the month who, or what type of player should the Jays target?? I'd be all for going after another top end starter as a rental for the playoff push. With Sanchez heading to the pen, I just don't feel comfortable with Stroman, Estrada, Happ, and Dickey. Who would be possibly available at the deadline? This year is, IMO, our final year to go for it all before things blowup in the offseason. I say we go all in now! Thoughts???
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Anyone in the Twins bullpen Brad Hand
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Josh Reddick. I understand why a lot would want him, but his power is way down, his BABIP is quite high and his defense has been shotty this year with an uncharacteristic -17.6 UZR/150. Probably small sample size as I know he was recently on the DL. Man that move would piss Bautista right off going to 1B/DH role before he hits FA.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Josh Reddick. Why do you keep wanting the guy? Saunders miraculously isn't dead and Carrera has been doing a great job considering the cost. We have more important areas to address than RF.
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Why do you keep wanting the guy? Saunders miraculously isn't dead and Carrera has been doing a great job considering the cost. We have more important areas to address than RF. Reddick > Smoak in the line up.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Reddick > Smoak in the line up. You want Reddick to DH and E5 to 1st?
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 You want Reddick to DH and E5 to 1st? No the idea would be Reddick to RF, Bats & EE split 1B/DH, Smoak to the bench. Smoak is a league average bat, 98wRC+, Reddick has a 122 wRC+ and Steamer predicts 116 going forward. His 1.5 predicted WAR going forward is over a full win above Smoak while providing an upgrade in RF over Bautista. Whether or not that's a great move, I don't know but a lot seem to like that idea. Being that Oakland is 15.5 game back at this point and Reddick in his final year he's going to get moved.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 - Grilli-esque pen arm that can be had for almost nothing Is anyone selling a 1B that is controllable beyond this year and can replace Smoak in the lineup? I can't think of any.

Governator Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Votto, Prince Fielder is just a terrible DH at this point.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 The Braves seem to put great value on pitching. I wonder if something around Sanchez and Freeman is workable.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Hosmer could be a possibility when KC falls out of it.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Votto, Prince I actually had a dream a few days ago that we had acquired Votto for his entire contract and nothing else. I then woke up with my bed wet

His power is not a concern imo, be fine playing at the dome. He plays in Oakland.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 What exactly do we have left to trade. I would focus on the pen, but the kind of reliever I would want we dont have the prospects for. All of our competitors have better prospects to trade.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 The kind of reliever that we need to put us where we need to be is one of the Yankees. Dont think they will be looking at Pompey and Rowdy Tallez and that garbage Face it, we have nothing. Only Chip Alford has been horrible. Need to focus on assets that we think can be attained for no prospects and may help us
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Sign Yulieski Gourriel and give him reps at 3B/2B/1B/OF.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Trade Dickey for the pen Help we require already! Kc just seems the most logical and fit The need a starter and we need a relief help. Dickey, Thole Barney and Loup For Herrera, Flynn and Butera. PTBNL ( Jake Newberry) Kick in 2-3 mill only if needed to get the deal done as is and right now!!! This can be Done before they leave town ever better!!! Mods
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 BTS instead of crying Wolf and bringing nothing to the discussion maybe learn too just STFU!!! Get off my lawn !!!! Lol rekt
puphood Verified Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Is it worth trying to get Matt Shoemaker from the Angels as he only has a one year contract?
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Why would we trade Dickey Keep these pending free agents and qualify them all Let's get 5-6 first round picks don't forget these were the picks that we drafted the likes of Synder and Sanchez
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Is it worth trying to get Matt Shoemaker from the Angels as he only has a one year contract? he is still under control until 2020. He will cost a bit.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 0% chance we tender Dickey a qualifying offer unless he's about to go on the best hot streak of his life.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Seriously tho, Rich Hill. That's probably like Pompey and Tellez. I really don't see this FO making a move like that.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 At the very least we are tendering Bautista EE and Saunders Outside shot we are tendering Cecil Dickey Smoak
