Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Lincecum has been terrible and in decline for 4 straight years. He would get absolutely hammered in the AL. He's probably not even as good as Biagini or Floyd at this point.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 1.) Lincecum is close to signing with the Angels and I'm sure they are giving him a rotation spot 2.) It's Buehrle and he has unofficially retired and stated the only reason why he hasn't handed in his papers is to mess with the media @ Dinger He has been terrible, and chances are he is done as a starter, but I think he can still be decent in the pen. He's by no means done
CHRIS Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 A few people said it yesterday, but I think the key to turning this team around isn't to add depth a la Lincecum to the bullpen, which has obviously struggled. This team goes as Bautista, Donaldson, Encarnacion, Tulo and Martin goes. We're cooked if these guys don't turn things around.

He's by no means done He's very much done. He doesn't even have enticing RP splits, he's like a true talent 4.30 guy now who would probably sport a 5+ ERA in the AL East.

Stand corrected

I think he is in better shape now than in the past.

SexyNewForum Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Damn baseball can be brutal. Kid was on top of the world pitching like an ace and suddenly it's all gone.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 His cheeseburger and milkshake diet was only going to take him so far. Just because you aren't getting fat doesn't mean its not taking its toll lol.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Damn baseball can be brutal. Kid was on top of the world pitching like an ace and suddenly it's all gone. Not that it wasn't predictable though. Back in the day of the whole Lincecum/Rios half-fantasy, half-reality deal, the two main arguments against the Jays doing it were: 1. Lincecum's mechanics make him look like he'll implode at any moment. 2. Rios was the only hitter on the Jays with a pulse.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Maybe he can throw batting practice and get the offense on a roll.

We should sign Mariano Rivera, too. He was good one time. Also, the Angels are probably gonna be rebuilding, why not go out and nab Jered Weaver?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Same theory go for Stroman? Yep. Stroman will be topping out in the high 80s by the time he's 30, possibly much sooner. He's already lost 1.6 MPH since 2014 and he's only at 91.9 now. He'll probably just be scratching 90 when he's around 28.

Those are two very different pitches and he's essentially abandoned his 4-seamer.

It really doesn't matter, his avg FB velo is what it is. When you sacrifice velocity for movement, over time, you can't just snap your fingers and get the velo back.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Yeah, Stroman seems like the type of pitcher who you use for six years and then let go to free agency, which sucks because he's such a likable guy.

If he's throwing a different pitch, such as a cutter or 2 seamer and your comparing that velocity to the velocity of his 4 seamer in 2014 - and concluding that he's losing velocity......dats dumn.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 No Run DMC wont make a difference, if our 4 big hitters continue failing at hitting.

His four seam has dropped from 93.6 to 92.2 (and usage to almost nil). The two seam has dropped from 92.8 to 92.0 (and usage up from 13 to almost 50)

Jokes aside, might as well give the ball to an electric guy who was once great for a shot versus the constant rotation of 'Generic MiLB reliever' that we've been getting
