With all of the effort that MLB puts into ensuring competitive balance, I'd hope that they come down hard on Boston if these allegations are confirmed. A total ban on signings for 1-2 more years would be appropriate in my opinion. A soft response would just encourage other teams to start or continue doing package deals.

Could someone please explain what do they mean by those package deals?

Instead of having 2 players going for 400k and 200k they are getting 2 players for 300k and 300k? Is that what they mean?

If the Jays did this you would be saying no big deal

Yeah well that's the rub. The article heavily implies that this isn't a Boston specific practice not is it expressly prohibited. If they want to enact a policy and crack down on this going forward that's one thing but there doesn't seem to be any particular reason to be vindictive towards the Red Sox specifically unless you're just really have it in for them for some reason.

Yeah and the trainer arranged his cut accordingly. So say the trainer is supposed to get $50k from each player. In this case be can just take the $100k from the player getting $200k who will now get $300k

Yes they pay other players they dont really need or want and then those players pay the actual bigger ticket guy.

That's brilliant, I could have sworn the jays were doing that. AA was paying lesser prospects money so he could get the more important ones, who's to say the lesser prospects weren't giving part of their money to the big fish

"If you sign my s*** player for 300 K, I will let you to sign my top guy for 1 million instead 1.3 million."

That typical in july 2.

MLB owes it to their fans to follow up on their repeated promises to ensure competitive balance in regards to amateur players. The red Sox made it really obvious and if there is solid evidence then an example should be set. This practice CLEARLY violates the spirit of the rules. I don't think there is any debate on that point.

Angrioter is worth 900K

BTS is worth 10K

Cyborg is worth 10K

Boston sign the three players for 300K each, then the trainer divides the 900K dollars the way he want (Angrioter 900K - 17% trainer, BTS and Cyborg 10K - 17% trainer)
