BTS Community Moderator Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Saunders has been great leading off, no need to switch it up when Travis gets back. Let him hit 7th or 8th when he comes back. Buck seems to go out of his way on the air to mention how he thinks the Jays should have Pillar lead off again and drop Saunders in a "run producing" part of the lineup to provide "protection" to the middle of the order. Him saying this drives me crazy. Former team manager!

Buck lives his life solely by following unwritten rules because he grew up in an era when nobody questioned stupidity.

I like Saunders, but he Is punching over his weigh right now. If Travis is close to what he was 2015, he makes the most sense to LO.
polar bear Verified Member Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 I think Smoak has come up huge as of late. Even last year, I know a lot of people felt, he should have been playing over Cola every day. If the lineup continues to struggle, and you want to give it a strong up the middle order, I would consider the following upon Travis's return Travis Suanders Donaldson Bautista Smoak Encarnacion. Tulo Pillar Martin That is a crazy crazy good lineup, even with bats struggling. Even if Martin doesn't become average again, and Tulo doesn't improve. That lineup is going to murder pitchers. One change for me,Donaldson bats behind Bautista.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 I'm glad Martin's walk off hit came up 15 feet short of a grand slam last night. Desperately needed for the 1-run game record.

If the lineup continues to struggle, Last two games he has hit and walked and basically carried the team for one game.....what I have seen is he sees that inside low breaking ball better than usual and leaves it alone....More interestingly though is whether Martin makes hard contact again tonight..........

Cola suspended is the best thing that could have happened to this team. A Left Handed Smoak really balances the lineup against RHP.

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 No Saunders tonight and we have Pillar leading off again....I guess that's better then Carrera
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 No Saunders tonight and we have Pillar leading off again....I guess that's better then Carrera There really isn't anyone else besides Pillar who would be a good leadoff hitter for when Saunders gets days off vs Lefties. Maybe Martin or Tulo but they've been terrible so far and you aren't going to move them to leadoff just for a random game.
