Starting to think that Donaldson's quote was pointed directly at Tulo and Martin, especially Tulo.

 

I don't think Martin's eye is bad, just hit swing/miss is way high. That and he needs to go back to his old opposite field approach and stop trying to pull everything. I know it's tempting to try and yank everything in this division with its hitter friendly parks, but he's overswinging horribly.

What's more worrying to me about Tulowitzki is the steep drop off in his offensive numbers: -4.1 last year, -3.1 this year. His stellar defence is pushing his WAR to 2.3 last year and roughly the same projected this year, but still....

Well... Money aside, you can have a 2 war ss who generates value from his bat or glove? At least if Tulo gets a hot streak it'll feel like a surplus of value. Once the defense goes, it's gone.

It's foolhardy to draft a goalie anywhere in top 2 rounds, arguably 3. They just take way longer to develop and you're better off taking a skater.

I'm not sure, I haven't followed the Leafs or hockey in general for a while now. I'm sure they can at least use the picks as currency in finding a solid goalie.
