I honestly can't recall one of our pitchers (maybe except for Osuna) freezing a batter with an 0-2 fastball for a caught looking strikeout. It appears that Martin and Thole aren't deep enough psychologically to cross people up.

Just got home to see the lineup. I'm convinced Smoak did something to Gibbons. He can't even get playing time over Matt f***ing Dominquez, and Goins plays over Barney despite being a s***** player in general and even worse against LHP.

 

Seriously. I'm done blaming Gibbons here. Shapiro and Atkins can fire his ass any time they want to. He obviously does not mesh with their organizational philosophy. Cut ties and move the f*** on already. Anyone else would be better.

I think Barney was 0 for against Quintana and Goins was 2 for 3 or something. Obviously nothing should be made of that given the sample sizes, but I assume that's what he was looking at. Dominguez was 5 for 11 in his career vs Quintana.

 

Quintana also has virtually no L/R splits, so he isn't a typical lefty.
