Pillar's swing is always ugly, hes a mediocre hitter don't expect much from him and hope Gibby doesnt bat him lead off and we will be fine.

Pillar's swing just looks awful right now, seems like he's purely uppercutting everything. His plate discipline remains awful as well.

I'm so happy we don't hear Buck and Tabby talking about how Pillar has hit at every level he's ever played at and how he's going to develop into a good hitter. The downside is - that means it's not happening.

Lol funny how when we put an excellent hitter in the lead off spot instead of someone like Pillar we start rattling off a bunch of wins.

Anyways, Pillar had a .585 OPS to close out May last year and everything evened out during the summer. He can't possibly continue to put up a 2.2 BB% right? You almost have to try to have a number that low.

Also he's hitting more ground balls than last year and is hitting more to the opposite field so that kind of defeats the upper cut swing argument. His timing is just off. Not worried.

Pillar is extremely streaky at the plate. He's just cold right now. He'll get red hot at some point and at the end of the year - overall, he'll be below average offensively.

Tabler with some actual great insight on Stroman's struggles lol!

He said his landing foot has been inconsistent which could be messing with his control, and he'd like to see him use more high 4SM and breaking balls.

He also said that he's throwing the sinker so much that it could be causing him to be tossing his curve with the side of his hand instead of getting on top of it, which could be making it less effective this season.

I like Estrada, that game 5 start last year in the ALCS was unforgettable, he really is our most reliable starter.

I'm waiting the day Pillar comes in peace with his offense, to accept his limitations and to do the little things in offense:

- stay patient, stop hacking

- try to go opposite, try bunting ...

When he does that and with his defense, he will be a good contributor to our team for years.

You can't just all of the sudden become a master of the strike zone as a hitter. It's a skill.

Mark Trumbo has talked about this before. He knows he doesn't walk and he wishes that he would and he does try to. He's just not talented in that aspect of the game so he can't.

Damn, why not try something new? How long until Cecil is back anyway?

Why DFA Dominguez? He could've been optioned again and I don't think we need 40 man roster space.

Apparently it's optional waivers.

So bottom line Dominguez will end up back in AAA. Not that I care that much.

Depends on which patch you played after. Acrane was nailz for a long time before they nerfed it

So what changes will there be for tomorrow's game. I'm guessing 4 things will change.

1. Lineup...back to a normal lineup

2. No Bautista or Edwin (1 will not start)

3. Travis will probably have the day off

4. Clean innings for the bullpen at the expense of the starter.

5. Hopefully a batter steps up and calls everyone else out....Barney maybe?

None of those things are going to happen.

Sanchez porn

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/aaron-sanchez-is-looking-like-an-ace/

snippet:

I’ve saved the most exciting thing for last. Sanchez, of course, has generated all those grounders. Even as a starter, he’s still thrown 74% fastballs. And he has a 68 FIP-, which is right in line with his ERA and xFIP. As a little experiment, I gathered all starter-seasons since 2002 with at least 50 innings. Then I ran some easy math to identify the most similar seasons to Sanchez’s 2016, based on grounders, fastball rate, and FIP-. The top five most similar campaigns:

2007 Brandon Webb

2003 Kevin Brown

2005 Roy Halladay

2003 Brandon Webb

2004 Tim Hudson
