Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Author Posted April 18, 2016 Only one changeup is dumn. Why has he stopped throwing it?!?! Sanchez is pitching for "results". While his ERA are low, his repertoire also is going to be reduced. Very dumb
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Only one changeup is dumn. Why has he stopped throwing it?!?! My guess is he thinks its too hard at 91 MPH. Martin seems to be the one not calling it though. Sanchez actually had to shake 3 times to throw the 1 yesterday.

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Sorry - whats a good amount of whiffs and %? Not 100% sure, but according to fangraphs, any SwStr% above 9.5 is good. http://www.fangraphs.com/library/offense/plate-discipline/ EDIT: just found this. http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/swinging-strike-benchmarks-for-pitch-types/

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 11.6% you mean. Sorry, you're right, don't know how I messed that up lol. Tonight told us that the change-up is still an inconsistent pitch, which might be why his usage changes every start.

Granted there's probably a few 2 seamer that got classified as 4s, but still compared to his other starts, the difference is pretty huge

I wonder why that is? Conventional wisdom would suggest the opposite because of the grip.

Really need that velocity difference to be around 8-10 mph Overall though, it was a better mix. Now if he could just learn a cutter....

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 PitchFX is an algorithm. Pitch Info is a person. Pretty big error bars then. Both systems tell us the same thing overall tho if his goal is more swing and miss.....he should throw the 4 seamer more, needs to lose about 4 mph off his change and needs a cutter to neutralize lefties better
