After going to Tampa and the clearwater area (close to St. Petersburg) I realized why no one goes to games. Not only is the stadium a complete dump but its in such a difficult place to get to. No public transportation and traffic is just as bad as Toronto. If they get a new stadium I think baseball will be successful there.

Isn't that basically the same problem that Montreal had?

I'd say the stadium in Tampa is in a much worse location. Olympic Stadium is only like 10 KM outside downtown Montreal and there is a subway stop right outside the stadium.

It really is. So hyped up to start the season and you have to go play in an almost empty cavern with zero atmosohere for 4 stinking games.

This is the second time in three years the Jays open in Tampa. Then going back a few years they did as well, the Dewan Brazelton game.

It's been like 10 years since brazelton has put on a rays uniform

yep. 1 bar in the entire area too (cool bar but still s*** how few are in the area) few restaurants too. As I've mentioned before though...the atmosphere inside really good (12k in the Trop with half cheering the Yankees was louder than 30K in the RC), and the customer service is the best I've seen for any stadium (all sports). Tampa is very ass backwards with sports. Raymond James is city owned and the home dressing room is worse than most U.S. high school dressing rooms. Probably has cost the Bucs dozens of FA's (as stupid as that is). Tampa city council buried the Orlando/Tampa Olympic bid too, which would have been probably the best location for it.

Its weird because the Lightning are actually the number 1 team there. I find atmosphere in the ballpark is dependent on the team mostly. At the beginning of the season this year Toronto fans were pretty loud even with how few were there. In years past the team was bad so fans really had no reason to cheer lol.

I'm going to the Friday game. If anyone wants to meet up before the game for drinks I'm down.

I just thought about it, but why the hell are we playing Boston the last 2 games of the spring? Managers usually avoid putting their actual starters against division rivals as it gives the lineups more AB's to prepare for the pitchers.

Probably because Montreal is really close to Boston so they expect more fans to come. Tons of Red Sox fans in Eastern Canada too.

I heard it was because fans in Montreal wanted to see a good team play vs the Jays, not the Reds or some other s***** team.

I'm going to both games. Yessss

I'd sell your tickets for the second game if you can make some good money back. It's likely to be a minor league game on Saturday. Unless you want to see Jio Mier and Co. Not even 50k could make that fun.

I'd debated selling the Saturday tickets but I've never seen a game at Olympic Stadium (though I've played there) so the $24 I spent is worth it in my opinion. Will be my partners first ever "MLB" game.

My woman will be pissed if Goins isn't playing. She's a big fan. (don't get me started...)

I think she's hinting at you brah

It's time to shave that head and put on some oil grease on it

Nah. Ironically she really dislikes shaved heads and says it's his playing not his looks that she likes. She was actually rather upset the first time she saw him pull his helmet off and saw that he was bald. Thinks he should grow his hair.

Also worth noting, it took me about 2 full months (with fairly regular game watching with her I might add) to convince her that Donaldson was a better player. Those were trying times I tell you... Sigh. :)

To be honest, I also like watching Goins on defense. On offense I cross my fingers all the time for him. Sometimes it works.

how embarrassing would it be if the roof started leaking mid game and the bubble deflates inward?

They use the stadium for soccer, though, right? I assume they are doing proper maintenance year round.

Yes the Montreal Impact play all their bad-weather-month homes games there

I think they play in an outside one actually. They have the big friendly matches with the Euro club teams there though because it holds more people.

All that said, it's still a massive s*** hole that feels like it could fall in at any time

Heck, it was back in in 1994
