gbill2004 Verified Member Posted February 24, 2016 Author Posted February 24, 2016 the f***? theres a kfc buffet? Yep, here in Winnipeg there is. $12.95 for all you can eat chicken, fries, gravy and pop, but you can only be there for one hour.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 you can only be there for one hour. Lol. My heart goes out to the sad f*** who needs to have that rule enforced. (Apologies if it's you.)

They don't even throw in some green coleslaw at that price?

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 They have KFC buffet down in Florida where my parents are. They took us there one night "as a treat" (as they put it). It was disgusting. As expected.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Is green cole slaw different than others? Feel like I may be missing out There are really two main types of coleslaw: oil/vinegar and creamy. Then there's a few different ways of cutting the cabbage. I would never cut cabbage the way KFC does. Loses all texture, and leaks water everywhere. That's hashed cabbage. Chopped cabbage is best for water retention and satisfying crunch. I believe KFC also uses an oil/vinegar dressing. Coleslaw is the best. Try looking up a recipe and making some. I'm a creamy slaw guy mostly, I make mine with a mayo and vinegar based dressing with a little bit of sugar. Radishes and even some granny Smith go in nicely, too.

It needs to be aged a few days to get a really good flavor though. mmmmm coleslaw

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 ^ This guy knows cabbage. Cabbage and onions are two of the best vegetables imo. Onions are king. Cabbage is like lettuce's hot mom. I'll take a good slaw over any other salad every single time.

Had some new years Kimchi that was fermented for 6 months, that was more interesting than good. The garlic really dominated the taste. I'm a pepper person... love my jalapenos and chili peppers. Jalapeno stuff with cream cheese on the grill is amazing.

I've just never tried an oil/vinegar slaw where I wouldn't have preferred a creamy one in its place. Best slaw from a chain restaurant has to be Earls imo. I really want to find out what they put in the dressing, tastes almost like buttermilk and then they throw some fresh chives in that bitch. When I make slaw at home, I'm going green cabbage (red makes the dressing look like pepto bismol after a few days) carrot, onion, radish, green apple and some celery seed is really nice too. f*** I'm really hungry. Plus I'm rambling due to lack of sleep.

Not a fan of fruit in my slaw though. when in the deep south, try some slaw at family owned restaurants. the old recipes are usually the best. chain stuff is so full of chemicals that you really don't want to know about.
