Cyborg Verified Member Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 You have to think it'll either be Seattle or Arizona. He seems like the kind of player they both target. Not anymore re Seattle.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Not anymore re Seattle. yep - the old regime in Seattle would have been all over him.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 @jonheyman: Jays are said to like Jay Bruce very much. Word is, deal could be in works. I don't believe it. Since when does Heyman use proper punctuation and capital letters?
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 So if the jays end up picking up bruce; can we take that as a sign that Bautista is gone for sure? Also come on guys, although the ops trade proposal was retarded we are an offence first team, 25 homeruns at the bottom of the order would not be so bad.
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 @ken_rosenthal: Sources confirm: #BlueJays trying to acquire #Reds’ Bruce. First reported: @jonheyman.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 I'd laugh so hard if the Jays land Bruce tonight and then proceed to deal Bautista tomorrow cause he opened his big mouth.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 I think I read Saunders and a prospect would be going back for Bruce in a trade so it probably has nothing to do with Bautista.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Lol oh god what is happening

The problem isn't the home runs, the problem is almost every other stat.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Either you're trolling or you haven't really researched this idea. I've posted his stats from his last two season as well as his current Steamer projection below. He still hits some homeruns but he's not a 35-40 guy anymore, his slash line is brutal and by fWAR he's a negative asset defensively. He's not a Gold Glove or Silver Slugger candidate by any reasonable stretch and when you factor his salary, he's a negative asset. There's absolutely no reason to give up anything of value for Jay Bruce at this point. Certainly not 1/5 of your rotation and 2/3 of what might be your OF of the future. okbluejays Verified Member Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Pompey + Alford + Dickey + Thole for Jay Bruce. Would you do it this year to solidify another playoff run? I prefer Bruce over Justin Smoak. Jay Bruce: - Solidies the left field option - Adds a much needed left handed power bat - 1 year left at 12 million, and another option year at 13 million. - potential gold glove/silver slugger candidate - will prob hit 35-40 HR at hitter friendly Rogers center. - will help ease the pain of either/both of EE or Bautista walking next season - still young, 28 years old - pretty durable health wise Heeeyy-elll NO!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Must be Pompey's medical report holding up this deal, or Alford or Dickey's meniscus that's it, Thole won't go without Dickey, could be that, too. Faaaaaaawwwwk... we dropped the ball, f*** you Shatkins!!!
