CrackerJack Verified Member Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 ... not that it really matters in the grand scheme of things. Jays begin with 4 games in Tampa ... and then have Thurs off ... with the home opener on Fri. will they simply send out who they think is their 5th best starter? then who do you think that will be? or will they tweak the order somewhat (out of the gate) to take into account the "honour" of starting in that electric home atmosphere?
Jonzo Verified Member Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 They'll probably skip the 5th starter.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Probably will be Chavez, as I think he's the 4th or 5th best starter. For some reason though, I'm getting this vibe they want Sanchez to develop there for a little while..It's all is going to depend if he can start throwing a decent change or cutter, off that fastball in spring.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Has to be Stroman, but Gibbons will start Sanchez
CrackerJack Verified Member Posted February 20, 2016 Author Posted February 20, 2016 They'll probably skip the 5th starter. so you think Stroman starts the season opener on Sunday in TB and the home opener on Friday? I think they give Stroman the extra day's rest during the first week (it's a long season) and he starts Sat against Boston.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Probably goes: Stroman Estrada Dickey Happ Stroman Estrada Dickey Happ Chavez Sanchez and Hutch in AAA. Floyd in pen.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Barring injury, there's no way it isn't Stroman.
CrackerJack Verified Member Posted February 20, 2016 Author Posted February 20, 2016 Probably goes: Stroman Estrada Dickey Happ Stroman Estrada Dickey Happ Chavez Sanchez and Hutch in AAA. Floyd in pen. I'd be shocked if Sanchez didn't break camp with the big club.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Floyd in pen. What's the pen looking like? Storen Osuna Cecil Loup Floyd Biagini Rowen?? Aardsma?? Venditte?? not bad not bad
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 i see the jays rewarding estrada with the home opener stro dickey happ sanchez estrada to start the year
CrackerJack Verified Member Posted February 20, 2016 Author Posted February 20, 2016 i see the jays rewarding estrada with the home opener stro dickey happ sanchez estrada to start the year yeah, I could see Estrada getting the honour as well. if they believe in the Dickey effect, and Sanchez is in the rotation, I can see them wanting Aaron to be the beneficiary of that.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 IIRC they've gone to the 5th starter in similar situations with an off day before the home opener. With it being so early in the year I can see them giving the 4 starters the extra day off.
Harvey_Specter Verified Member Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 I bet they go with their normal 5th starter, barring late ST injuries or soreness that would push one of the better pitchers' start back.. they go with the #5 - Chavez, Happ or Sanzhez. I think we all want them to run Stroman out there, but that's not Gibby's style. He'll want to show faith in his other guys early on.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Probably goes: Stroman Estrada Dickey Happ Stroman Estrada Dickey Happ Chavez Sanchez and Hutch in AAA. Floyd in pen. This would make sense.

Good points, who knows. With the day off to start the season, I'd like to see Cyborg's rotation. They can always use a swing man just in case.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Dickey. Please not again.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I'd be shocked if Sanchez didn't break camp with the big club. I wouldn't
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 It'll probably be either Estrada or Happ
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I'd be shocked if Sanchez didn't break camp with the big club. We have a new president and gm. Things are going to be handled a lot differently.
Travis_Snider Verified Member Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Probably goes: Stroman Estrada Dickey Happ Stroman Estrada Dickey Happ Chavez Sanchez and Hutch in AAA. Floyd in pen. Not sure they would skip the 5 starter spot that early in the year.
CrackerJack Verified Member Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 We have a new president and gm. Things are going to be handled a lot differently. Yes, i've spoken to both of them. And that's why I don't expect Sanchez to start the season in Buffalo. (But a s***** ST could shake things up.)

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 If you think they landed the truth on you roster wise, etc, etc, well then... lol
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Ballplayers know before you, assignments, etc, where they're going. There's camp and cuts, before anything is colluded to. Catch a grip. They're the last to know. Which means what?

I'm not one of their confidantes. But Shapiro did speak pretty frankly tho about various matters. (Atkins not so much.)
