  1. No, thanks. You're welcome to use the ignore button. All the best.
  2. I am concerned. This concern has been met with much anger on this forum. We've all heard players talk about hitting coaches that have helped them. Why not shake things up? Yes, I know Jacoby isn't the reason the offence has been weak, but I've yet to hear that he's helped any. If people really don't want him fired, can they support getting a second batting coach? Even Cito and Murph would probably get better results. Yes, similar strikeouts but at least more runs.
  3. I would add that one of the ways that a hitting coach can earn his salary would be to identify new patterns and ways opposing pitching is attacking the hitters in order to identify ways to makes adjustments. So, your comment kind of supports the possibility that Jacoby may share some responsibility for the poor results.
  4. I'm not going to dispute your logic, but if these kind of offence results are the overall expected "norm" where does that leave us this year?
  5. I'm surprised if advanced scouting is the reason. Pitchers still miss their spots enough. But yes, it's a game of adjustments. I admire the lack of concern and hope you're right. At what point can we be officially concerned about the offence? I'm not waiting until the All Star break.
  6. You're right, that is logical. Doesn't change my bet though.
  7. I can be "hands off" for the 300K or whatever similar amount they pay him ....maybe he's a great hitting coach, maybe not...but maybe there's a much better one out there. I don't really want to speculate until I get more info. All I know is something needs to change. Josh said guys need to evaluate their approach. I tend to agree with that. Wouldn't that be something a hitting coach should be helping with? Why aren't things getting better. I think one month of crappy offense across the majority of the team is enough to start to raise concerns.
  8. Prior to working with the Jays, Jacoby served as the major league hitting coach for the Cincinnati Reds for seven seasons. Without looking at Cinci's offensive results during that time, I think that a bag of hammers could get good results in that tiny park....so I certainly hope he had good results.
  9. Exactly what I was wondering. Who knows, maybe the 2015 results were still effects from Seitzer in 2014. After he left, it seems the Jays didn't exactly get their top target for hitting coach.
  10. K Whatever. I was hoping to get some insight on whether Jacoby is actually a good hitting coach aside from the fact the Jays scored a lot of runs last year. . Not sure if you're taking a position on that subject, or have any insight to offer.
  11. No I understand some crappy players make good coaches. Which is why you should take the time to read my post before trying to show off for your"friends"
  12. Their approach is obviously, "make the pitchers work and throw as many pitches as they can". . I used to like this approach, but considering the strength of a lot of bullpens we face I'd rather be more aggressive against their starters in a lot of cases. The strategy seems a few years outdated.
  13. I bet they rid of Barney instead of Goins down
  14. I do. But we can't fire them. Can anyone attest to Jacoby's coaching ability? Cuz his hitting record as a player kinda sux. If we're defending him cuz the Jays scored lots of runs last year then by the same logic we have to judge him by the lack of runs this year.
  15. Gotta blame someone when nearly the entire offense is struggling.
  16. If we can take a 3-1 series win in TB that would be historically fantastic. Even a split would be good considering how bad we've been in TB.
  17. Better to learn the lesson early on in the season. But, it's going to be interesting to see how consistent the umpires are with the call this year. We got a bad break tonight, but we'll get our share in our favor after 162.
  18. lol. He'd go to a playoff team in a heart beat though. Even if he was pissed. Not only that, but being a d*ck to FO won't help his contract negotiation value. Team friendly guys get more money
  19. Cons - season long drama - he will be gone at the end, 0% chance Shapiro keeps him - whenever he plays against us he will punish us Pros - he's going to be a beast this year, playing with something to prove - trade bait if jays are out of it
  20. I bet they go with their normal 5th starter, barring late ST injuries or soreness that would push one of the better pitchers' start back.. they go with the #5 - Chavez, Happ or Sanzhez. I think we all want them to run Stroman out there, but that's not Gibby's style. He'll want to show faith in his other guys early on.
  21. Surely the market for Happ should not be this expensive. Shouldn't it be more like 2/20? Is this the Toronto premium? Unless...did the Jays scouts really believe this to be their targeted guy who will maintain his recent performance level? If not, it seems strange to overpay. And for the record, I hope they are correct like they were with Estrada
  22. I voted "BAD". While depth is good, if this money prevents us budget from signing a higher quality arm, it's bad. If we still get a high quality arm then I'll change my vote to Good.
  23. Left on principle...Or so it seems...I am speculating that AA left because of sour grapes with Rogers. Rogers basically slapped him in the face when they originally offered a 1 year deal (later changed it to a 5 year deal after the fan base jumped on AA's bandwagon). Then, they hired a president to be involved more in baseball operations and I wonder if AA wanted consideration for the president's job. I mean, in AA's eyes I wonder if he felt he could have done a better job than Shapiro in that role? When someone internal gets looked over for a promotion they usually jump ship.
  24. I won't be surprised to see some big FA Pitching signing(s) this off season. Rogers and Shapiro will need to make a statement like this to keep the fan confidence.
  25. They'll definitely keep them for 2016 regardless and then if they're out of the hunt at the trade deadline they will deal them for a good return. Either of them would accept a trade to a playoff team going into their FA season. I think we'll lose them both to Free Agency anyway. And we probably should for what they'd want we'd be better off going after a really good pitcher(s) that is younger. Even without them in 2017, we still have a good offensive core with Tulo, JD, Martin and to a lesser extent Revere, Travis. We need to add some serious SP and RP before 2016 and can make another run with EE and JBau. There is a good core there for 2017+ and plenty of time to add pieces before then. I'm not worried about losing EE and JBau for their 35-40 age seasons. Big key is to add Pitching this off season. We need Rogers to open up their wallets. Hopefully they can see the value now.
