The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 I propose we fold all 20 team leagues and roll with LoD as the only existing BJMB league. The league that separates the boys from the men. DDL will never fold. It’ll live on past the MLB.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 So how is waiver wire order going to be decided? Right now it’s the opposite of the draft order. So the championship team has 1st overall.

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 Should we just create a UN of BJMB leagues and create a unified set of 20 team dynasty league rules? This is what it should be. Not for dudes like me that willfully choose to disregard the long back-and-forth of rule changes in the different league threads but it can be generally confusing for someone new coming in and taking over multiple teams or for the more casual guys. Leagues keep their unique identity by things like teams 30/20/12 etc or scoring cats but things like how a draft goes, claiming debut players, and all the other rest of that jazz should be uniformed and changes contained to 1 thread instead of 4. You don’t need to vote on every small thing, create some kind of council with all the drab Mod types. Anything super major that creates blowback can be discussed but honestly how often will that pop up Individual leagues could vote on things like attrition or scoring cat changes
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 Woohoo! Don't be rubbing it yet. You are going to the bottom of the heap.

BTS Community Moderator Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 Proposed rules for the 2022 NPD, open for comment: 1. Once the draft starts, Fantrax will not permit owners to make adds or drops. Owners must therefore make all necessary cuts prior to the start of the draft. Commishes will not process cut requests – if you don’t have room on your roster, you won’t be able to draft. 2. Rosters will be expanded to 27 for the duration of the draft. This is because Fantrax does not allow players to be drafted directly to minor league rosters. Owners are expected to draft players and move them immediately down to their minor league roster. If eligible drafted players do not have green flags, commishes will move the player down. 3. Windows will be 6 hours long. Owners are encouraged to rank players in the draft room so that their picks are made automatically when their turn comes. If an owner’s window expires and they still have not made their pick when their next turn comes, their turn will be skipped. 4. Skipped picks can be made up at any time, but can not be made in the draft room. Pick instructions can be provided to commishes, who will make the add. 5. Owners can select players with MLB experience in the draft, in addition to affiliated players with no MLB experience. 6. There will no longer be any thresholds after which players have to be promoted from farms.

I think we all realize it is a lot of work, that you do voluntarily, and I think I speak for the whole league when I say we really appreciate it! My only opposition is the #1. As it is written now, it takes away your ability to decide which players of value you want to keep on your team. Let's say there are 10 prospects you have identified that have more internal value then guys already on your roster. I drop a bunch of guys prior to the draft and all 10 targets I identified have been taken before it gets to my pick/s. Now all that is left are guys I don't value internally as much as I do the guys I had to cut. It is like the 40 man in MLB. Teams are not going to cut guys from the 40 prior to FA, they might have some names in mind if they sign Springer, Bauer, Semien etc, but until that contract is signed, you are not going to pre-cut 5 guys from the 40 in case you sign some FAs.. So again, thanks for all you guys do, much appreciated. I just am not in agreement with point #1. Thanks!
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 I'm fine either way, but what are the advantages of using the draft room versus just doing it manually, like we used to. I had thought maybe it would be less work for the commissioners, but it doesn't seem to be.

I had thought maybe it would be less work for the commissioners, but it doesn't seem to be. I did not find it to be less work, but my perception is that a majority want to use it. The advantage, once the kinks are ironed out, is that it should move faster (if people are using queues) and takes the onus off of us to e-mail the next person up. The obvious disadvantage is the lack flexibility (see Carlos Danger's grievance, for example). I'm open to doing it either way, but I don't want to be processing drops for people mid draft again if we use the draft room.

I am in a league where they expand the roster to 30 or something for the draft. You have a roster max date pre-draft. For the draft the admin expands the rosters. If you drop a player during the draft you have to post the name on the board. Then after the draft you have X day/hours to drop that player or you are in violation. The only thing in this case, is that those players dropped during that draft, are not eligible to be taken until the draft is over. Just food for thought.

We could expand to 30 or something for the draft, then immediately cut back to 26 when it's over. I don't even know that we'd need a formal 'cut down by' date, because the draft will end during spring training, and people typically want to make roster moves during that period, and won't want to be frozen out of transactions by an illegal roster.

Just make it effectively unlimited (whatever the max is) during the draft. People can't make adds anyway. People can make trades, use extra picks, whatever the hell they want that Fantrax allows, but when the draft is over they'll have to fix their rosters when the limit gets bumped back down. There shouldn't need to be any commissioner intervention.

AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 We need an immediate vote. It's important that we reach a consensus on whose idea this was.

BTS Community Moderator Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 What are the current rule differences between DDL and BORED? - 15-man farms in BORED, 14 in DDL - BORED will very likely be abolishing the farm mandatory promotion thresholds Seems like the draft will be be very similar, and hopefully identical. Anything else?
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 I need to clear some space to pick up some awesome waiver wire guys.
