Stick to your guns BTS.

Some people will think it's too much. Some won't. The bottom line is that the punishment has to actually sting. A 2nd rounder for a team that owns three 1sts doesn't. Dinger's very late 1st (the 3rd pick jaysblue has in the draft) is far from crippling, but it's enough to hurt. The intent here is to set a precedent of significant repercussions in order to deter owners from being careless about this type of thing. It's not something that should happen.

So we've decided that L54 will get to choose a starter of jaysblue's to sit this weekend (will be Bumgarner if he doesn't choose one), and jaysblue will be fined Dinger's 1st round MiLB pick in 2017.

I love this ruling.

Maybe a lower pick though.

Yeah 1st rounder would be good penalty for 2nd infraction. I'd say like a 3rd to start but I definitely agree there has to be some penalty besides stat adjustment otherwise ppl like me will be like "oops"

The majority of people in this league have been in other board dynasties and have seen the heckling people get for picking up owned prospects. This isn't the League of Newbs, this is the big leagues! Ctrl-F is your friend!

I updated the spreadsheet to reflect the current real-life organization for all prospects. Some of them had not been updated, while others were just plain wrong.

I'm not sure if it bothered anyone else as much as it did me, but I had to do it.

Please let me know if I missed any.

The number of 1sts a team has should have no bearing on the verdict.

What if a team didn't have any firsts or seconds? Would they only have to give up a third rounder then?

It's like we're punishing him for owning more than one 1st round pick. And don't forget, this sets a precedent.

The next time someone makes this mistake, they're going to lose a 1st round pick, which is a pretty harsh penalty.

Regardless, I guarantee no is going to think:

"Hey, I think I'll try to get away with nabbing an owned prospect for a couple of days, because it will only cost me a second pick."

Sounds harsh. I would. Have done one or the other. Not both

This would never happen in the DDL

Wow losing a first round pick, seriously c'mon guys. I've been travelling for the last month and don't have access all the time to a computer and have very limited wifi only on my phone. You know I never make mistakes like this in all the other leagues I've been in. Plus it's only week one, it's not a playoff matchup or down the stretch with a match that impacts playoff implications, then I could understand a much harsher penalty.

I'll sit Bumgarner for his next start or for the next matchup against the team if impacted (whoever I'm facing, assuming we play again at the end of the season). A first rounder is way too harsh, like seriously. It was an honest mistake.

I've told you guy's I'm away for a month travelling. Doesn't make what I did right obviously, so I take blame for it. But seriously a first round pick? Like c'mon thats ridiculous. If it was a playoff matchup or late season matchup with playoff implications I understand. Why when I picked him up, he wasn't dropped from my roster by an active commissioner? I don't think he started until a couple of days after I picked him off waivers.

I too agree that a first is too harsh... he had him on his roster since the 2nd though, he still should've made sure he wasn't owned. On 2nd thought, is he still in Asia? He left on the 23rd of March right, and said he was going for 6/8 weeks, so yeah, he's overseas with sketchy internet, I believe this is far too harsh.

Why does it matter if you were travelling? Does that affect anything?

I'm not one to criticize as I've done this, but if I had gotten this punishment I'd stfu and accept the consequences. Stop playing the bloody victim all the damn time.

I don't think I've been giving the booze hounds enough respect before this week. That's an annoyingly good and well-rounded team.

It's a little much even if it's his fault. I don't know what admin capabilities are but something like a forfeit of all categories that week would be an affective punishment.

Taking a first is pretty harsh penalty for the crime

*effective

In a compete year, I'd probably prefer to lose the pick than forfeit a whole week, to be honest.

But there are no such tools in Yahoo anyway.

I also thought it was too much until he tried to blame the commissioners for his mistake. Now I think it's appropriate.

I admitted to the mistake and yes it's my fault. Though to lose a first round pick? C'mon?! I'm losing 9-4 this week anyways and even in ERA as well. I've seen other managers make mistakes by illegal adds and they never lost a 1st round pick. Ridiculous.

This is the first time a manager has actually played an illegal player in BORED. I don't think it's happened in 4+ years in the DDL. And while the pick is a 1st, it's going to be 20th overall.
