P2F Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 You're right - Brad Hand is pretty awesome.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Dinger gets: Dexter Fowler and Jay Bruce P2F gets: Dee Gordon and Brad Hand
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Dansby Swanson Vladimir Guerrero Jr. David Robertson for Jose Bautista Russell Martin
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Big trade! Not that bad of a trade but I'm not a Swanson fan really. Bautista is still a boss. Swanson is probably better than Tulowitzki.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Swanson is probably better than Tulowitzki. Yeah he's pretty awesome, it stung.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Do we need some more assistant commissioners to approve trades?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 So Frenchsoup's roster now includes: Edwin Encarnacion Devon Travis Troy Tulowitzki Russell Martin Jose Bautista Kevin Pillar for some reason JAy Happ Marcus Stroman I think I'm sensing a theme here.

BTS Community Moderator Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 I've processed the prospects. You guys can do the rest via yahoo.

Cyborg Verified Member Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Swanson is probably better than Tulowitzki. Nice try!
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Nice try! I'd say that's accurate. Swanson will beat Tulo in 4/7 categories this year, and that's if Tulo actually stays healthy. Tulo has been a league average hitter for two full seasons and he's now officially old.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Dansby --> .259/.322/.395/13/65/57/9 TULO ----->.260/.329/.444/20/62/66/1 And Steamer projects 20 less games for Tulo, so if he DOES stay healthy he should crush Swanson in counting stats. I think Tulo objectively still has the significantly higher upside. Would it shock anybody if he hit .280/.350 with 30+ bombs and 100+ RBI? Would it shock anybody to see Swanson hit an empty .250? What's the appeal of Dansby anyway when you can get a fantasy SS plug like Assdribble for nothing?

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 The guy might not even crack 400 SLG. Or he could hit .300 and slug .450. You guys are leaning too heavily on a pre-season projection for a 2nd year player, Steamer doesn't know who Swanson is and neither do we, but we do have a pretty good idea who Tulo is at this point and where he is on the aging curve.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Would it shock anybody if he hit .280/.350 with 30+ bombs and 100+ RBI? Yes. Would it shock anybody to see Swanson hit an empty .250? Yes. An empty .280, maybe.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Swanson was pretty mediocre in AA and barely has any sample outside of that.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Yes. Yes. An empty .280, maybe. Swanson just hit an empty .260 in AA!!!! People are massively overrating these shortstop prospects right now, in both fantasy and real life. The Francisco Lindor effect.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Swanson was pretty mediocre in AA and barely has any sample outside of that. A .744 OPS may seem mediocre, but a 117 wRC+ isn't. I'm not in love with Swanson so I'm not going to the mat for him any more than this, but you guys are irrationally high on Tulo, and as dynasty assets I don't think they're anywhere close; Swanson is much more valuable. In a redraft, I would take Tulo, but this isn't that.

No, I think you're just underestimating how close Tulowitzki is to the cliff. Nobody is saying Swanson is Derek Jeter.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Yeah I agree they're not close. No way I'd take Swanson anywhere near Tulo. Yes, well, you're a tomfool enslaved by thoughtless projections. In the near future Swanson will ISO .150+ with a 10%+ BB rate and strong avriges.

Tulo is a nearly bankable bet to provide a few more solid fantasy seasons. Swanson might not ever provide one solid fantasy season. Sure there's a chance he is great, but your probabilities are way out of whack.

Sure there's a chance he is great, but your probabilities are way out of whack. Tulo is 32 and didn't finish inside the Top 250 in this format last year. I don't know where you get off talking about probabilities, his final decline is a near certainty.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Tulowitzki is essentially a replacement level shortstop in this format now. Here are some worthless boobs who were better last year: Didi Gregorius Asdrubal Cabrera Eduardo Nunez Elvis Andrus Jedd Gyorko (push) All younger and either waiver wire guys or available for dirt cheap.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Dr. Dinger's idea of fantasy analysis is to click the 'Current' column on Yahoo. Use this to your strategic advantage, readers.
