Actually it was pretty logical for them to bench Gomez. They still had 3 closers (Colome, Kintzler, Rodney) starting against Soup's 2 (Britton, Robertson), so it made sense to bench their 4th closer in favour of holds guys in order to best compete for both categories.

Speaking of SP-eligible relievers, Brad Hand has been sneaky good for me, racking up 16 holds and almost 100 Ks already. SP-relievers are real difference makers.
