Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Will Harris is also available (Astros closer). 0.74 ERA, 1.70 FIP, 2.88 xFIP. I'd be looking for a similar return to Wade Davis though if I decide to move him, maybe with me throwing in a pick or holds guy like Tazawa. He'll just get traded...
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Anybody want to auction a reliable SP2 or 3?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Anybody want to auction a reliable SP2 or 3? Committing to sell an asset at a specific time regardless of the return has always seemed like a bad idea to me.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Committing to sell an asset at a specific time regardless of the return has always seemed like a bad idea to me. It seems to generate a lot more offers than the vague "so and so is available" though. Most of the auction returns have been fair. But if someone wants to trade me an SP2 not via auction, that's cool too.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Abom is clearly the worst at generating interest. "I'd be looking for a similar return to Wade Davis though if I decide to move him." Based on his wording, even if he gets a Wade Davis-like return for a guy with 12 career saves, he might not decide to move him.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 It seems to generate a lot more offers than the vague "so and so is available" though. If that's your main trading strategy, you suck at trading. Assess teams who need what you have and contact them directly.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 You should auction Beltran now! I can do that. If you start the bidding with Bickford.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 If that's your main trading strategy, you suck at trading. Assess teams who need what you have and contact them directly. It's a lot of work to figure out what teams need, and what they are willing to give up, and the offers only work if: 1) The other team is willing to give up the asset you covet. 2) The other team is interested in the player you are willing to give up. (even if they have a hole in their lineup, they might not like the player you are offering). 3) Both teams agree on the value of both sides of the assets being traded. The auction method actually works pretty well. You immediately get a sense of who is interested in your asset, and the market value is quickly established by other bidders giving all participants a comfort level that they are not being ripped off. The downside with the auction method is that while it's great for collecting generic assets (picks, p[rospects) it isn't that helpful for targeting players that you need.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 The auction method seems to work really well in LOD, but I'm not sure it's as well suited to the other leagues unless you are talking about a true star player.

I asked for a near ready SP prospect for Wade Davis and got 3 offers in the same day. I also had a couple feelers, and a couple people looking to make a bigger deal. Obviously with Davis going on the DL it ruined everything, but I was in line to get exactly what I wanted for him until he got hurt.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 I haven't seen an auction that hasn't worked out for the seller to be honest.

Based on his wording, even if he gets a Wade Davis-like return for a guy with 12 career saves, he might not decide to move him. I'm pretty sure 18 other managers read it the way it was intended. If I get a prospect similar to what was suggested for Davis (maybe with me throwing in something), I WILL move him. If I don't, I'm happy to hold onto him for next year (and as of right now should have the space to do so). Over the last 2 years, Harris has a 1.5 ERA, 2.99 FIP, 3.17 xFIP. Wade Davis has a 1.02 ERA, 2.41 FIP, 3.37 xFIP.

AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 A real Abbot and Costello routine you guys have going here.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 So with Kershaw, Cain, Richards, Wade Davis and now soon Carpenter on the DL. I'm willing to listen on Edwin. A bunch of you have inquired on him which i shot down right away....would be looking at a trade where i win and you lose (jk). Feel free to send offers. Be aggressive with offers and not "what do you want for him" kinda thing. Would want a 1B back with other pieces that can help me in 2017.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 f*** yeah, back into a playoff spot.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Anyone want Carlos Beltran and his sexy .372 wOBA? Looking for an injured player who will be back by next year or a close to MLB prospect
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Hey Boxy, Harper is better than Trout, right?
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Hey Boxy, Harper is better than Trout, right? You're never going to let that go, are you? Lol
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 You're never going to let that go, are you? Lol I deserve it tbh. You reap what you sow, and I sow a lot of ********.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 You're never going to let that go, are you? Lol It's going to take awhile.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 The HR derby is so stupid. I hope Corey Seager gets eliminated in the 1st round so he doesn't hurt himself or f*** up his swing for a month.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Might be interested in packaging Tim Anderson up with a pick/prospect(s) for either a high end starter or a big 1B bat.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Might be interested in packaging Tim Anderson up with a pick/prospect(s) for either a high end starter or a big 1B bat. Might be interested in trading Alcides Escobar and a pick for a Jon Lester or Freddie Freeman type.
