Laika Community Moderator Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Norris signed so cheaply because they gave him a rotation spot i believe. Cahill is ok but i'd rather have Chavez for 2 years. I doubt he takes the same money from the Jays. Chavez' service time is already at 5.108 so he'll be a free agent next offseason
Pulk_Pull Verified Member Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Damn, I thought I accidentally clicked on the 'Offseason Roster' thread given the amount of bitching and assumptions being made with regards to how the Jays are operating this offseason. Would of love Iwa on that deal but I Jays had no shot given the West Coast nature of the deal. Almost everything else feels like a bit much. I would take potentially take Sipp on that deal assuming Cecil gets a big payday next year somewhere else. I would of also liked the Cahill deal but again, who knows what the other factors are. It's not like he would be guaranteed a rotation spot or viewed Toronto as a value building org. Lowe's deal isn't terrible given it is short term but there are other RHP bullpen pieces in the sea.

If he had 2 years of control left a lot more people would of liked the trade. I would of rather signed Norris for 3-4 Million and said he was the 5th starter. If he s*** the bed you just take him out of the rotation.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Joel Sherman @Joelsherman1 1m1 minute ago Full trade is Miley and Aro to #mariners for Elias and Carson Smith to #Redsox
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Smith = really good reliever
GD Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Smith's mechanics are questionable right?
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Smith's mechanics are questionable right? Very, throws a ton of sliders but is young and might be able to handle it for a couple of years.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Smith's mechanics are questionable right? well now that he's a Red Sox, we can overblow all his flaws. dat k/9 though.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Great trade for the Mariners. Damn wish we got Miley I really don't see the difference between three years of Miley and five of Elias being five years of Carson Smith.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 The offseason has simply become a part of the spectator sport. People just want to see their team do STUFF. ANY STUFF. Three years for Mark Lowe! Entertain me, executives! Give me something to retweet!!!! Nah. I dunno about others, but for me, tt's just common sense that our pen got weaker with Lowe leaving.

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Red Sox Bullpen is really nice but ummmm.... Their Rotation needs more then Price + scrubs
Frag Verified Member Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Red Sox Bullpen is really nice but ummmm.... Their Rotation needs more then Price + scrubs Buchholz is pretty good, when healthy.
JaysRap Verified Member Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Red Sox Bullpen is really nice but ummmm.... Their Rotation needs more then Price + scrubs They're not done. They'll add another piece via trade at this point.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Buchholz is pretty good, when healthy. True but his health should be more reason to want to have some depth
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Apparently the Chapman deal isn't set in stone yet and Cinci might still be listening to offers. This might explain why we haven't heard any deets all day.
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Zobrist will sign soon. Mets seem like the favorite
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 I really don't see the difference between three years of Miley and five of Elias being five years of Carson Smith. Jays will eat Elias alive

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 5 or 6 great young players for 1 player. Good luck with that
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 5 or 6 great young mlb ready players for 1 player. Good luck with that ftfy
xposbrad Verified Member Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 So Jays don't trade for Tulo and Price = Fernandez? Ya, and he's 23 and team control to '19. But in hindsight, there are a bunch of things this team should have done differently so..
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 ftfy What player's would even quailfy for being a great young player, even targeting the bottom end players of that category? Jackie Bradley Jr, Stroman, Lindor?. What team has 6 of those in their system..what team could even afford to trade 3 of those guys for a pitcher. Probably the dodgers, maybe the cubs
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 So Jays don't trade for Tulo and Price = Fernandez? Norris, Hoffman and Castro don't get you Fernandez even if Loria is in the middle of a coke epsiode
