CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Chris Russo's rant on Cespedes winning a GG: http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/7417714/v529061283/mad-dog-shares-his-feelings-on-cespedes-gold-glove lool. f*** it, I agree with him.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Kevin Pillar got 8 votes so he qualified for it but they give it to Cespedes lol
wamco Verified Member Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Very dumn... Pillar was a shoe in under the original criteria. Whomever came up with this idea, needs to be tarred and feathered. dumn

Surprised to see Crawford ahead of Simmons, maybe it's not that bad. Turns out the most egregious of the errors would be Kinsler losing to the midget and Odubel being omitted from the ballot (with Donaldson being another notable omission) AL overall leaders Player Team Position SDI Kevin Kiermaier TBR CF 29.2 Kevin Pillar TOR CF 13.3 Lorenzo Cain KCR CF 12.9 Manny Machado BAL 3B 11.8 Ian Kinsler DET 2B 10.7 Kole Calhoun LAA RF 10.5 Yoenis Cespedes DET LF 10.1 Josh Donaldson TOR 3B 9.2 Dallas Keuchel HOU P 8.8 Adrian Beltre TEX 3B 7.8 Kyle Seager SEA 3B 7.0 Eddie Rosario MIN LF 6.9 Alcides Escobar KCR SS 6.5 Caleb Joseph BAL C 6.2 Mike Trout LAA CF 6.0 Jason Castro HOU C 6.0 Eric Sogard OAK 2B 5.7 Didi Gregorius NYY SS 5.2 Evan Longoria TBR 3B 5.1 Alex Gordon KCR LF 5.1 Mike Napoli BOS/TEX 1B 4.9 Jose Altuve HOU 2B 4.6 Trevor Plouffe MIN 3B 4.6 Adam Jones BAL CF 4.3 J.J. burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 What the hell happened to Anthony Gose? Worst CF defensively according to those rankings. In Toronto he looked really good range wise and had a pretty good arm as well.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 jesus those KK numbers. is he the greatest defensive CF ever
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 How anyone can say Pillar deserves the GG is completely mystifying to me. Kiermaier is a god.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 How anyone can say Pillar deserves the GG is completely mystifying to me. Kiermaier is a god. Diving catches in games one has actually seen + fielding % > great catches, amazing throws and great routes for a player they have seen 16 times max (most likely less than 9 as they didn't watch the Jays before the deadline Now to get KK his Platinum! http://rawlings.com/awards/platinum-glove/
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 (edited) How anyone can say Pillar deserves the GG is completely mystifying to me. Kiermaier is a god. Or they could be using the Wilson guys (traditional stats, advanced stats and Inside Edge???) http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/2015-wilson-defensive-player-of-the-year-awards-announced-on-mlb-network-300177114.html Edited November 12, 2015 by TheHurl
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 This Wilson award is terrible, now people think that Pillar got robbed out of the CF because the Wilson award was "based on stats".
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Franklin Gutierrez was similar defensively in 2009 and may have been rangier, but Kiermaier logged almost 200 fewer innings this year and has the better arm. Best all-time are maybe (in no particular order) Kiermaier, Gutierrez, Andruw Jones, Willie Mays, Paul Blair, Garry Maddox, Kenny Lofton. Devon White was better than Kenny Lofton, not only for anyone who watched them play, but statistically as well (if you put any stock into pre-UZR stats). I'd also argue that his range at least equals Kiermaier's and was probably better with respect to his peers

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 How old were you when Devo played... 13, lol, but I like watching old games.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Lol plz stop quoting Grant, I can't handle that level of homerism.
