West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Up until the past few months, your philosophy was the one followed by the Blue Jays management for 20 years; I think the Blue Jays management will have second thoughts about following such a philosophy in the future. Proof of this can be seen in the ALDS - how many times did Gibbons pinch hit for Goins even though Goins had no hits in the series? I would rather a guy drive in an extra 50 runs in a season then save 25 runs on defense.....
nextyear Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 I would rather a guy drive in an extra 50 runs in a season then save 25 runs on defense..... If he can do that then you are probably right, but Goins drove in 45 RBI's in 428 plate appearance. In 600 plate appearance next year are you expecting Travis to have well over 100 RBI's? Just think about it: any time the Blue Jays have lost Bautista the team has struggled, when they have lost Encarnacion the team struggled but when they lost Devon Travis the team record greatly improved (the team didn't struggle at all). Doesn't this create red flags for you?
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 I kinda want to win this game...i think. Maybe.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 God I hope Goins Going Gone hits a Home Run Today just so some of you STFU !!! Go JAYS Go !!!
nextyear Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 I kinda want to win this game...i think. Maybe. Yeah that would make it a nice day. If the Blue Jays win the ALCS, then the coming week will be a nice week to be a Blue Jays fan.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Luckily there will be 162 games next year to experiment and see if Travis' better offense means more wins. This season has shown that superior offensive numbers don't correspond to more wins (in spite of what WAR stats indicate). The Blue Jays 2015 season turned around once it was Tulowitzki and Goins in the infield, neither of whom had the offensive stats that matched Devon Travis' stats. If Devon Travis is healthy enough to play in the World Series and the Blue Jays make it that far, how many people would be willing to replace Goins with Devon Travis at 2nd base? Please stop
nextyear Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Please stop OK. I actually like Devon Travis, he seems like a good guy and he really can hit.

BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 How do we know Travis will continue at the clip he was going? Who gets you a Bigger or Better return Goins( who I can live with) or Travis ( may be a Flash in the pan) What if they decide to trade Tulo for salary relief or pitching? Moot point, can you live with Goins and Travis?

False, the Blue Jay team did much better even prior to the trade. Even with Reyes at SS and Goins at 2nd base the Blue Jays were well above .500. They were 10 games below with Travis at 2nd base. I posted that info before.

BTS Community Moderator Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Is this guy for real? The only thing that matter in baseball is how well a team's 2B plays defense.

When you're this lost in a baseball discussion, probably best to just lurk rather than insert your retarded, ill informed opinions.

Pretty sure if one of us is a troll, it's the guy arguing to bench a clear ROY candidate for a bench player based on team performance.

Dr Negative Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Not much reason to trade anyone considering that Tulo will miss 60 games next year in all likelihood.
