I don't think it has anything to with an inferior complex of Canadians. Most Canadian realize that Canada is far superior place to live than the US. PS: Canadians just get frustrated because so few Americans realize it.

Winnipeg is better then say Seattle or Boston? Is that why so many NHL players cannot wait to play in Winnipeg?

Are you an American? If not, have you ever been to the US? It sounds like YOU have a real inferiority complex. I have been to the US many times, and would never want to live there. Visit, yes, but not live there. I don't recall stories of African Canadians fleeing Canada to move to the Southern US. I don't see millions of Canadians with very poor health care, I don't worry that any of my children will get shot, the Canadian education system is far superior to the US education system .....

Governator Community Moderator Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Dickey starting makes me nervous, need the bats today. I'd be more nervous if Holland was starting for us the way he's been throwing.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Did anyone else think Edwin looked completely locked in last night, with little to show for it. I look for a big game from him today if Holland makes any mistakes.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Edwin drew a IBB in the 4th inning of a 1-0 game, with only 1 out. Granted a lot of that is on Bannister being a tool but having a free baserunner just like that is huge.

reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Harold Reynolds was correct. People in Toronto suck at catching foul balls. It's a fact I've been saying for years. Watch games in Boston or St. Louis, actual baseball cities where the ball doesn't bounce off 3 people before getting caught.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Wouldn't surprise me. That's the state whee the great John F Kennedy was murdered Really?! Drawing a correlation between the JFK assasination and some Jays fan getting a couple peanuts thrown at them. That might be dumber than Harold Reynolds schtick.

To add to that, you can really tell who the bandwagoners are when some girl/guy gets beaned in the head in the stands while talking/laughing with friends in the home half, instead of paying attention to the team they've paid to see.
Followthelight Verified Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 I'd be more nervous if Holland was starting for us the way he's been throwing. I'd agree but the offense is in a funk.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 ^ They put up 5 runs hitting into 4 DPS. Tex got lucky. If they continue to make solid contact they will score more. The 2nd time around the order last night they looked like our offense again. Patient but deadly if the pitcher comes in. I wasn't happy Gibby didn't pinch hit for Goins in game 2. I don't think he is seeing the ball well and I hope he doesn't mess around today if we get into a situation we need to score in.
EMK19 Verified Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 I'm not afraid of RA starting today at all. Everybody knows, likely including Dickey himself, that he'll be on a very short leash and will likely get pulled once he allows about 2 runs/show signs of an even bigger inning. If we don't feel confident enough coming back from a potential two or three run deficit then we don't really deserve to win the game. Dickey has the potential to be dominant on any day as well, and if he has a good one working today then it'll further mess with Rangers' swings and minds. The player I'm worried about more actually is Martin; I sure hope that he will be on his game in catching the knuckler, and that it doesn't distract him from his performance at the plate.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Et tu Brute? There are people who are s***** at catching balls hit at them hard in all countries. It's worse in Toronto than almost every other city. Just an observation over the years I've been a fan.

I dunno, from my own anecdotal experience, people in Pittsburgh and Detroit fared no better than catching balls hit to them.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Does anybody, sitting in a cramped seat surrounded by thousands of people, have even an average chance of catching a line drive or pop fly coming at them? Like, regardless of where you are from. A foul ball is as likely to fall near some elderly woman in St. Louis as it is Toronto. Someone who really has no chance to catch it anyway, regardless of how big baseball is in her demographic. I mean if we put enough random, in-shape fans into the outfield to catch fly balls we might be able to determine which cities have the most aptitude for actually playing the game. But seriously - judging a demographic by who catches a ball in the middle of thousands of other spectators, dozens of whom are probably reaching for the ball too? How can someone suck at catching a foul ball in a stadium bleacher environment? I can't even believe this is a discussion or point of interest. This is honestly one of the stupidest tangents I've heard this season.
BallsDeep Verified Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 I'd agree but the offense is in a funk. lol its the playoffs they arent really in a funk.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Tulo 0-11, I am starting to think we were better with Reyes We`ve heard for years that in the playoffs, good pitching beats good hitting. I think we`re actually seeing it so far in this series. And if we don't? Will you stop white knighting then? Revere swinging for the fences. Guess nothing changed lol. And Donaldson too.. YAY! We totally gonna win. Sigh. The entire series? And these guys are not even taking pitches. Seriously WHAT THE f*** DO THESE GUYS DO IN THE DUGOUT AFTER THE LOSS?! Do they even look at what Texas did right and learn or just say "meh bad luck" Jesus Christ. Some of my favourite posts from the first 2 innings from last night in the GDT.
