KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Dickey starting and Estrada available out of the bullpen would be my choice. It sucks that the season is riding on either one of these guys but at the same time, the bats are due for the kind of breakout that should make this pitching decision moot.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 lol no way Martin should be sitting. I'd start Navarro too
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 I assume when Estrada comes out of the game so will Navarro... So really you lost 2 maybe 3 PA.

gbill2004 Verified Member Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Estrada is the more pleasing pitcher to watch on the eye, so there's that. He also doesnt implode for 5 runs all that much. Are you saying Estrada gives you an erection?
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Yup, I agree with Estrada pitching tonight.

Estrada prefers to pitch to Navarro so let him start over Martin.

baubau Verified Member Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Where is the "doesn't matter, defense and offense need to show up" option? That'll probably help the most.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 If Odor and Deshields are getting on base, then its already over.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 I'm going out on a limb here and just voted yes! I'd also offer him a qualifying offer at this point, not a ton of risk on the one year deal if he accepts.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 He was very good last night. I love to watch a guy pitch. He got the FB established hitting his spots...with his change working off it. Then he starting mixing in the curve 2nd time through the order. I didn't like Navvy starting over Martin, but its hard to argue with the success that tandem seems to have and Navarro hit a couple balls hard(one into bad luck).
nextyear Verified Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Gibbons made the correct choice in going with Navarro last night.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Buck Martinez on MLB Network now saying Navarro is the main reason Estrada was our most valuable pitcher this year
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Gibbons made the correct choice in going with Navarro last night. meh...maybe. You don't know that. If he plays, maybe Martin and Estrada have a solid game and Martin hits a bomb off LHP like Tulo did. They went with the karma of that duo. It worked out regardless so I'm happy for that.

Considering how well Estrada pitched last night, I'm very okay with Navarro starting. (I did say that last night as well, so it's not JUST hindsight...)
