Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Is there another team in pro sports that spends more time remembering past accomplishments than the Jays do their two world series wins? It's embarrassing. Yes, the Habs.

It's embarrassing. I'm tired of it too, but there's really nothing else to really market. The team has been pretty transparently mediocre except for fan-favourite superstars here and there. It's a pretty bad indictment of the organization.
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 What's this we are here chant. Jays were doing it too.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Fully agreed. That first pitch had Roy Halladay written all over it, pretty shameful that it was urban legend Cito Gaston once again. you know Cito will call Tallet in from the bullpen.
Dr Negative Verified Member Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 you know Cito will call Tallet in from the bullpen. Should have got Billy Talent to throw out the pitch.
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Yes, the Habs. I don't think so. They bring back the greats for pre-game ceremonies, and bandwagon fans are all "24 cups lol", but you don't hear about it every game. You can barely watch a Jays game, 22 years later, without reference to their wins. I mean, it was important, but enough is enough.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 you know Cito will call Tallet in from the bullpen. That warrior Bruce should have gotten the honour. Such a competitor.

Leafs are much worse. last time the leafs won it all there were only 6 teams. is there anyone still alive that was on that team? I was only 4

The worst is when they compare player by player to the players from the winning teams. Alomar and Goins should not be compared, neither should Carter and Encarnacion, or f***ing Ward and Henke with Osuna and Sanchez. Completely different teams, different eras, different game of baseball. It's time to move on and focus on what's going on right now.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Good old Barnabus Tallet. Never forget. You should bring the 'stache and badge avatar back. Board classic.

Is it the skin colour thing? Is that it?

I was only 4 I cringe when they honour those players at home games. That's fine and all you want to honour that they are still alive, but it's quite upsetting that they haven't been back to the cup final since then. Maybe the worst sports franchise, taking everything into consideration, out of all the major sports.

Cleanup hitter who doesn't play good defence. Obviously Carter is not on the same level, as great as his one moment was, as was Pat Borders for one series.

The grandchildren of their last World Series champs are probably close to eating through a straw. Sorry to burst the Toronto Sports Bitterness Bubble .

It's OK, they'll trot out Latroy Hawkins from the 2015 WS Champions starting next year.

Would be majestic!

reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 I want the Cardinals. I doubt they get past the Cubs though. First off, I don't care who they play if the Jays end up making it that far. That being said, from an entertainment point of view I think the Cubs would be the most fun to watch. The Mets would be great too with Syndergaard and the huge NY market getting behind them. LA would also be a fun series I'd love to see how the Jays lineup battles with Kershaw/Greinke. That's just my opinion but of course I just want the Jays to wipe the floor with everyone.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 I want the Cardinals. I doubt they get past the Cubs though. The Cards have an excellent team, I don't get why people are acting as if the Cubs will breeze through the NL playoffs. The Cardinals are a scary opponent.

I wanted to face the Cardinals because it would be awesome to beat a 100 win team in the World Series.

The Cardinals are a scary opponent. I don't get it either. The Cards just won 100 games lol. And the Dodgers aren't nothing either. Their lineup is deep and Greinke/Kershaw will start at least half of their games.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 They're winning though. And how good were they, prior to the Mess era, or since?
