Stop doing this...^^^ There's a process meatheads, a concensus, if you will...

 

I preferred the way we used to do it, where we compiled lists from ~20 of of the best prospect junkies. That way we avoided uninformed votes and the individual lists weren't influenced by other people's lists. I think it was some of the best researched Jays material out there.

 

The way it's done with polls now doesn't mean much to me and is just a popularity contest, where many votes are based on comments and trying to be 'first' with a prospect. I'd be willing to compile the list like I did before if people are interested. PM me if you think it's a good idea and we'll think of who should make up the voters.

Yeah, I don't mean to put down your method or anything, as you put a lot of work into it. I just have more confidence in the old method to produce an accurate list.

Maybe I'm part of the problem, so I'll do everybody a favor; I think I'm done with this place, at least for a while. This team is playing some of the most enjoyable baseball I've ever seen, and this forum takes all the enjoyment out of it. I joined this place because it was a fun community to be a part of at one point, but it's not fun anymore. It's become more common to come here and see people s***ing on each other than it has to come here and see some actual celebration about the greatest team we've seen in decades.

 

I'll never understand why people are so toxic to one another, and why they have to make something as harmless and inconsequential as baseball so personal and so vile, but I guess that's just the way it is. I'm sure the malicious *******s like Boxcar and Smokey will love this, so rejoice, because you don't have to deal with me anymore.

 

The mods can feel free to delete or lock this thread and let TRM continue his streak.

If so can I be first on Guadalupe Chavez?

 

Gonna be interesting to see what happens considering there is no more dedicated minor league thread and the farm system has been stripped bare. Things were much easier for the uninitiated before. I dont expect much consensus outside of the 8-9 guys at all.

There should be a list of posters that are allowed to vote. That way, the numbers don't get skewed by people who don't know their ass from a hole in the ground.

I really doubt you'd see a significant difference in the results by changing the approach. Everyone here is capable of reading a scouting report or a stat line.

I like doing the polls because it generates a lot of discussion during the slow parts of the offseason. I don't think 15-20 people ranking their list privately with it being posted at the end would generate much discussion at all.

Mathematically speaking, the consensus lists are a much more accurate way of doing prospect lists. You actually have a say about every prospect.

For sure you can. I really actually like that sleeper pick. I gave consideration to both him and Meza when rounding up my top 20. Sorry if I ruffled feathers by simply posting a list when the topic came up. I kind of keep one all season, and jumped at the chance to share it.
