Just think about 2020

Vladdy Guerrero Jr hitting 40 bombs at the hot corner

Rowdy Tellez ISO-ing above his weight at 1B (he'll weigh 250+ by then)

Anthony Alford a few years into his McCutchen career path

Max Pentecost the world's first one armed position player

Richard Urena hitting .180 while backing up a geriatric Tulo

Alex Anthopoulos being an area scout for the Rockies or whatever

one can dream

From what Frenchsoup and Bulringtonbandit tell me, Pompey is going to be in there somewhere crying while trying to steal 2nd base.

AJ Jimenez blossoming into Jose Molina 2.0

Jake Brentz turns into a 97 MPH lefty with control

We have a prospect called Brian Lizardo? That's pretty cool.

Pros: Should be able to stay at third base, strong arm and exceptionally good hands. Good idea of the strike zone. Smooth swing from the left side, but choppy from the right side and should consider not switch hitting. Could grow into plus power.

Cons: Concerns about body and attitude - is in fact a large green reptile man who insist on wearing a tattered white lab coat all of the time. Irrational hatred for spiders.

He's also a cop killer.

Im sorry you don't like my opinion, you obviously have yours as you should. Pompey has a ton of value on the trade market, that's why I think he and Goins were going to be the two pieces moved for pitchers. I think he's a really good athlete, with some decent instincts. He needs to be more assertive and focused in the outfield. Use the whole field a bit more with his speed. I question if his negative personality will allow him to make adjustments to become that star that some of you guys already think he is.

I'm worried about his Day/Night splits. Could be something there.

Girodo is extremely interesting. We could see him get a chunk of MLB time next year.

He should have been up in September.

Whats his stuff like? Looks like he can be a solid Loogy.

Not 100% sure but from the little bit of info out there, think Aaron Loup with less velocity but more command. Side arming lefty, sits maybe ~89mph (with sink), slider. Better minor league numbers than Loup.

Sounds interesting. Loup has pretty good command so that would be nice.

hmmm, honestly never even heard of him.

well he was one of those guys that Toronto signed for like $5 and a fridge magnet as a SR out of college.

We've 'hit' on those guys at a much higher rate than could reasonably be expected (and by 'hit', I mean they aren't out of baseball in a few seasons and some have marginal upside a year or two later)

Definitely. Well, 2013 was insane at least. Did I miss anyone below?

2011:

Pillar!!!!

2012:

nobody.

2013:

Boyd

Graveman

Girodo

2014:

McBroom?

DeSclafani? Not sure how much he signed for

Just a normal college guy - not a senior.

That was also 2011, so before the new CBA changed the draft and Toronto decided to go to this strategy where every pick from rounds 6-10 was a college SR who would sign for peanuts, freeing up a few hundred thousand American dollars to attempt to sign a single fleeting high school talent who would fall due to signability reasons.

That's what makes the Kendall Graveman pick particularly cool. $5k for a back end MLB starter is kind of like having your 40th round pick develop, when you only picked him for nepotism reasons.

Boyd was $75k. Still underslot but they thought of him as more of a prospect, obviously. Girodo was $5k. Pillar was a $1k signing - an amazing story and probably the best (or luckiest) draft pick in recent Blue Jays history.
