I've not been on here long - so I don't know the entire history.

IMO there is clearly fault on both sides.... o2 multiple banning isn't working or helping the situation.

King overreacting to anything o2 posts that could be even slightly deemed offensive.

As many claim, most can troll post and be a little unkind to others, I feel king reports a post from o2 that he would have thanked had Boxy posted it.

Didn't we have this over the Chins and a telephone directory a couple of months ago.

Maybe if o2 ignores king if he picks up on anything he posts, and doesn't use the ban button when things are escalating on the board but let someone else from the mod hottub deal with the issues.

As with every dispute until both sides acknowledge their own misdeeds then an amicable solution is unlikely to be ever reached. If both sides dig in for the win then inevitably nobody does.

These are the great times for Jays fans and yet its best messageboard descends to this. And yet we ridicule the O's hangout?

This is a pretty fair assessment and pretty in line with the discussions we've had in the hot tub. I think o2 and King are both good guys but the mix between the two right now is too volatile and bad for the board. Instead of putting anyone on trial here better to try some new approaches that should de-escalate the situation.

And more importantly.... GO JAYS GO!

I don't think it's just about King and o2. It's gotten to the point where you can't disagree with o2, respectfully or not, without getting banned and having your posts deleted. That isn't a healthy environment.

Yeah but all the major board blowups can be traced back there. I don't think it's an exageration to say that King and o2 bring out the worst in each other even if others do get caught in the crossfire. I think de-escalating things between the two is as good a place as any to start and we can deal with other issues from there.

Question: is trolling a bannable offence? Not random trollish posts here and there, as many people do that, but full out constant trolling? I would think that's something we don't want to happen, but was informed otherwise by a mod, so I'm just wondering.

They do, but the fact that you can't disagree with o2 is not okay. I'm disagreeing with you right now, respectfully, and I'm not scared of being banned. That's how it should be, imo. Nothing to do with King, it does feel like you can't disagree with o2. If o2 was JUST banning King over and over, it'd not only obviously be just between them but also f***ing hilarious, however, it isn't just King and him. It snowballs. If most mods do something that people don't agree with, the mod de-escalates the situation and handles it maturely. If o2 does something someone doesn't agree with, and anyone speaks up, they just get banned.

I mean, I'd look for evidence, but it's all deleted and banned anyway, so I can't.

It's not black and white. There was an Orioles troll who was banned recently. Most mods didn't mind since we kind of brought it on ourselves by having a thread about their board but one of the mods did decide to ban him and none of the other mods had an issue because he wasn't really contributing anything of value. It was no big loss.

i remember the good ol days when we didn't need to discuss mods everyday. good times

The good old days before o2 was a mod and the place was actually a good community? o2 contributed very positively as a poster, he just hasn't done the same as a mod. The Peter Principle.

I wasn't online for the beginning of the Thursday night blowup, so yeah. BS.

Last night: People were pissed off that Trouba kept trolling and no mods were doing anything about it. O2 goes on to say trolling isn't a bannable offense but complaining about trolling is. Board blows up over the stupidity, o2 bans 10 users. And here we are.

As well as the last one, I believe. Was it the last one? Idk, you know which one I'm referring to.

I wasn't online either so sorry if I got the facts wrong. I wasn't trying to mislead and I think my main point still holds that de-escalating things between the two of you will get us on the right track to solving board conflicts more generally.

Looks like posting negatively about o2's moderation gets you two things:

1.) A boatload of thanks.

2.) A ban.

hmmmm

Look I think every valid criticism you could make of o2 has been made and re-made as this point. Is there really any point in piling on? Trying to turn this into a trial by board opinion isn't going to get us anywhere. As hard as it might be for some to believe not even o2 wants banning sprees and animosity on this board. We're working on better more pragmatic aproaches going forward that should help us get on the right track.

Like I said, Last night the huge feud started when I wasn't online. So if you want to pin everything back to me vs o2 then thats a huge load of BS. Because obviously more people have a problem here with him than just me.

I would ignore list him but thats not an option.

Why don't you just ignore him with your eyes? You don't need a button.

I totally thought this thread was going to be about rules for board couples.

You and boxy are free to do what you want with each other.

I've been doing that, about a month ago I told o2 to stop replying to my posts and it was peaceful.

I would invite you to look at it from a different perspecive. Forget about pinning anything on anyone. That's not my purpose. If I did it, it was only to serve a larger good and I apologize for it. I'm not interested in that at all. What I want, quite sincerely, is for things to get better and I do think that at the moment, it's probably best for other mods to mediate between you two. Don't think of it as tracing all problems back to you two. I shouldn't have generalized that way and again I'm sorry. Maybe think of it more as other mods coming between the two of you and (hopefully) planting a seed of positivity between the two of you that will extend out to the rest of the board. It's not necessarily THE solution, it's merely a place to start.
