Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 It seems the big attendance jump we've seen since the trade deadline has been equaled with huge tv numbers as well. Last month, the Jays had 23 broadcasts that exceeded 1 million viewers, with an August average of 1.29 million. That's up 112% over last year. Blue Jays Central in August was up 139%, to 422,000 viewers per day. Jays in 30 was up 213%, to 137,000 viewers per day. On the season, we're at 793,000 viewers per day, which is up 36%.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Payroll needs to go up 112%
Nafro Verified Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 I think rural Canada is full of baseball fans. I think you are going to see our Country captivated by this team. It's going to be something special to experience.

Followthelight Verified Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 It's not rocket science, you build it, they will come. TO is starved for a winner, and the whole country is behind the Jays.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 It was like this back in the day too. glad to see the pandemonium back in TO.
nonamejays Verified Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Calgary is a buzz about the Jays. You would think it was the Flames being in the playoffs again that's how much it's being talked about. Lots of Jays jerseys out here.

People on my FB talking about Jays and never heard a single comment in past ten years. I'd be interested if there was any way to guess the increase in revenue from ratings and sell outs. The said thing will be next spring/summer when we're getting 15,000 a game again.

In my office people are talking ball again...
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Out here on the wet coast there are a lot more blue jays jerseys and hats out. I wear my Donaldson jersey on the motorcycle and people honk and thumbs up.

If they make it to the ALCS I'm going to go out on a limb and say they will have a STH base of at least 25k. Probably wouldn't see less than 30k each game.
Zaun of the Dead Verified Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 I would like to think all this extra revenue will help the re-sign price but I know Rogers is just gonna pocket the money and use it to help pay for their failing hockey programming.
BigLew Verified Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Same thing in Montreal. There are many Jays jersey and hats in the city. On the sports talk show, people are calling to talk about the Jays. At my job, we are talking about the Jays. Very happy to drive the 401 tomorrow and be there for this weekend series against the O'S. Go Jays Go!
JuniorFelix Verified Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Same thing in the Interior of BC... I was wearing a Jays T-shirt last weekend and my neighbour was like "Hey i see you have joined me by jumping on the bandwagon!" I had to quickly correct him that i have been on this wagon for a long, long time. Bandwagoners or not, all the buzz is certainly welcome.
Caper Verified Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 It would be pretty awesome if every major city in Canada sold out a small arena on the first day of the playoffs... they coould have live reactions all over Canada.. Some of the proceeds could go to the Jays care foundation.

TO is starved for a winner, and the whole country is behind the Jays. It's so true, at least in Saskatoon and Edmonton, where I work. A ton of people are wearing Jays gear. It's pretty cool. We should reward a successful team. We are not Tampa Bay.
BlueBirdBro Verified Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Nothing to do with TV ratings but sort of on topic....I had never been to a sold out game before last night and holy s***.

I'd rather they put a decent chunk of money into improving the medical facilites at RC and investing in bioanalytics. Price is great and all but I think there will be better ways to spend 200 million.

It's going to be something special to experience. Hehe. Rural Canada = everything outside of Toronto. I get this craze across Canada. I have the same feeling when any Canadian team makes it deep into the playoffs. But still, it's pretty weird. In any other instance, whether it's the Leafs or just Toronto in general, we get a lot of scorn in other parts of Canada. But for some reason everyone loves our baseball team.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Love your Baseball team, so toranta of you to say. It is Canada's Baseball Team !!! Thank you, I said Goodday!!! Lol

Maybe because there's only 1 baseball team in Canada now? Raptors have a similar effect.

No way Shapiro gives the greenlight for signing Price.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 No way Shapiro gives the greenlight for signing Price. As excited as many are for Shapiro, it's clear that a big reason he's here is that he's been in a cheapskate market and that's right up Rogers alley. They want someone in charge that's used to not having money cause they don't plan on increasing the payroll at all... Probably will go down due to the horrible dollar.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 No way Shapiro gives the greenlight for signing Price. Shapiro won't sign anybody He will.suggest Rogers go to 70 mil payroll and make more profit I can win with less - Shapiro
