Lester just had the ugliest sequence

- Segura on 2B with 2 outs takes a walking lead halfway to 3rd, sprints for the base and Lester doesnt make a throw

- Braun hits a chopper to 1B, Lester doesnt cover the bag and Segura scores

- Braun takes a massive lead at first, steals on the first pitch

- Braun takes off for 3B on the next pitch but it was fouled away

- Braun steals 3rd successfully, next pitch

- Braun walks Davis

- Davis steals 2nd on the first pitch, Ross throws to try and pick braun off 3rd

Does this make sense?

That's because Lester throwing to a bag is scarier than Shaq making free throws.

My only concern for the past 2 games was that with the 18 innings worth of at bats the Jays were shutout in all but 3 of them. Only scored in 1 & 2nd last night and 2nd today. Need more balance in hitting moving forward.

lol that's baseball, you're not going to score 8 every night....The Jays lead the league in offense by far..what else do you want? We also had no EE, TRavis, and no Tulo today, and faced some good pitching, and still won..That's a good thing.

When you score crooked numbers its plenty. Pretty sure the dogs were called off last night

Oh I know they can't score that many every night but I just would of wanted some more runs for comfort today as after Pillar made that bone headed play the game was very winnable for the A's when only down 4-2.

Today's line up didn't include Tulo, EE, Martin. For most other teams that would be their 2,3,4 line up. Others had to step up and they did. The reason we're succeeding is because 2 months ago we lose tight games and don't roll off wins like 2-1, 2-0 against Yankees or 3-1 against the Twins or two of these games against the A's at 4-2. Our BP is locked in, our starters are going deep, they are doing what they couldn't before which was holding leads when we score 4 runs or less. Scoring runs is one thing but pitching & defense wins the close games and we're doing that better than anyone of late.

Correct and I'm glad you mentioned the lost games earlier this season as those games are the only reason why the Jays don't have the division wrapped up. The ones that loom large are the blown saves as 17 were blown and 14 turned out to be losses.

If Sanchez can develop better secondary pitches and better control he would be a great starter.

He has a much better than average curve. He doesn't need any other pitches. His sinking fastball and his curve are more than enough to get him by. He needs to harness his command and he will be a beast for years to come. It may turn out that he just doesn't have the makeup mentally to become a consistent starter.
