IronLadle Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 2016 will feature bautista, EE, Tulo, Donaldson, Martin, Saunders, Travis, Pillar with a rotation of Stroman, Osuna, Hutchinson, Sanchez and 50 million dollars coming off the books to go get a couple starting arms in the offseason. That looks pretty good to me. The starting rotation is Stroman and Hutchison, possibly Dickey if his option is picked up. AA traded all our young pitchers who are close to mlb ready and the farm system is no where near as strong to make trades.

Followthelight Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 The Jays were already a lot better then their record, some bad luck really. Now one of if not the best team in the AL imo. Time for the jays to go on a run.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Jays now have 16% division odds, 33% WC odds, 50.2% playoff odds. #9 team in WS odds. On a realistic payroll (Spotrac has us at $134,709,382), Anthopoulos has done a solid job of creating what looks to be a very good team on a reasonable enough payroll, but I suspect he'll struggle to add the much more difficult 91st, 92nd, etc, wins, due to struggles with avoiding guys like Bello and his odd FA aversion. Hopefully we sign a starter or two in the offseason. I'd still say AA is probably 10-15 in the league.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 What 10 GM's are better than AA?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 What 10 GM's are better than AA? Not in any particular order: Farhandrew Zaidman True Cards Huntington Lunhow Sabean Beane Shapiro Espstein/Hoyer Silverman Alderson Maybe Cashman Maybe Rizzo So he could be 11-13 or something.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 IMO AA is in the same tier as these guys; Beane Shapiro Espstein/Hoyer Silverman Alderson Maybe Cashman Maybe Rizzo Really think he just needs a new president
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I don't think AA is anywhere near those guys and that's no disrespect to AA
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Not in any particular order: Farhandrew Zaidman True Cards Huntington Lunhow Sabean Beane Shapiro Espstein/Hoyer Silverman Alderson Maybe Cashman Maybe Rizzo So he could be 11-13 or something. No I think he's better then Rizzo but I agree about the rest
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 No I think he's better then Rizzo but I agree about the rest Prefaced with maybe. Don't feel strongly either way
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I don't think Beane is a better GM than AA, and if he is, it isn't by a lot. And calling Silverman a top-10 GM is nothing but pure Rays fanboy favoritism. He's done nothing to give us any impression that he's a top-10 GM yet, he barely has a track record.
Dr Negative Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Daniels would have been on everybody's list a couple of years ago. Just goes to show that these things change (though there is no saving Amaro Jr). Beane as such a long track record of success, he has to be in the top 5.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 he's been the president the entire time so he does have a track record The Rays haven't made any very notable moves since Silverman took over, and the Athletics have made very questionable or downright poor moves since Zaidi left. In the meantime, the Dodgers have made an incredible transformation for the better. Until those teams show us that they're just as good without those executives as they were with them, there's no way we can claim they're helmed by some of the best executives in the game. I don't even know why this conversation is happening, ranking executives is just about the dumbest thing you can do as a baseball fan. There's absolutely no basis in it, beyond a delusion that you know more than you do.
bill Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 they will not catch the Yankees and may get an outside shot at a wild card. They gave up way too much talent to do so. Price won't be here next year and they gave up their premier pitching prospects.

Probably throw Dave Dumnbrowski on there too.

BTS Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 What 10 GM's are better than AA? Silverman Dombrowski Duquette Hoyer Antonetti Luhnow Moore (maybe?) Alderson Beane Huntington Sabean Mozeliak Zaidi Rizzo (probably) Daniels
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Silverman Dombrowski Duquette Hoyer Antonetti Luhnow Moore (maybe?) Alderson Beane Huntington Sabean Mozeliak Zaidi Rizzo (probably) Daniels I thought about Moore but I couldn't really do it. I'd still take AA over him. And Duquette, and Daniels.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 In what world is Alderson even close to a top 10 GM? Alderson is really f***ing smart. Commands respect around the league, and has done an awesome job cleaning up Amaro's mess and turning the Mets into a budding powerhouse.
