lol RealAccountant was sucking off Kevin Cash during the entire GDT and yet Gibby's decision to keep Colabello won the game, hindsight warriors are awfully quiet today

Yes I underestimated Gibbons

His plan to keep Cola in the game so that he would hit a home run was pure genius

Yeah, it's almost like the players matter more than the manager. Astounding!

Smoak riding pine again! Fire this f***ing manager for Christ sakes.

Perhaps because Smoak is batting .217/.280/.478 in June? Plus, with Collabello and Valencia outplaying him, and Carrera being at least a decent option in LF, Smoak doesn't deserve to play every day.

But if you use logic and reasoning it makes it harder to blame Gibby for anything and everything

even Justin doesn't think he should be starting ahead of Collabello right now.

He's got a wRC+ 105 on a .296 babip and Bello has wRC+ of 115 with a babip of .407. Not even factoring in the defense i know who I'd take, you guys are monkeys like Gibbons.

People seem to think Smoak is a superior defender... he's better then Edwin and he's still below average. Smoak brings the ability to pick the balls but his range is bad. I've seen nothing to say Colabello is worse @ 1B, yet.

Colabello's offensive projections have surpassed Smoak's.

Yes yes yes but again if we use logic and reasoning then how are we going to be able to needlessly bash Gibby?

Gibbons has Redmond ahead in his depth chart of Hendriks

Yesterday in a 10 run game, he throws Hendriks out there

Today down 4 (And reachable by this team's standards) he puts Redmond out there to get a semi-important out.

Its not whether or not this move works out. Thats irrelevant. Its the nature of the move made that bothers me. Yesterday was the game you use Redmond. Today 4 down with our lineup, you do whatever it takes to not give up another run. That means using your middle relievers.

This is a bad bad move and exposes the fact that at the end of the day, John Gibbons does not think ahead. Those things are beyond him. Like AA he is playing it by the day.

I can take solace in the fact that Ned Yost and John Farrell were the last two managers that represented the AL in the World Series, so the Jays can still win with the Wobbly Redneck and his managerial incompetence calling the shots. They'll just have to outscore teams by huge margins to avoid too many close game situations (where Gibbons is outmanaged on a nightly basis).

Just thought I would add to the thread...top 8, Nats up by just one run. Pitcher spot up, so Matt Williams (moy) pinch hits den Dekker for Strasburg (even though Stras is likely better at bunting) and has him try to bunt the leadoff runner to second. He fails to bunt twice and then strikes out.

Moral: even rock-bottom retards like Matt Williams can win MOY with a good team.

Enough with this crap...he know jack crap about managing a team

If he didnt have the the players he has he would be long gone,AA should follow close behind.

Different league, different team, struggling offense...injured pitcher just back from the DL.....lol

My guess would be because Gibby is not that bad. All managers make mistakes...All have a negligible effect on the outcome of most games. You all have the advantage of hindsight...You say you would have made the same decisions that work. However wouldn't have made the decisions that don't work. I'm as guilty of it as anyone. That's the great thing about being a fan, instead of the one's playing the game or making the decisions.

It makes me barf seeing Navarro Dh'ing vs. RHP and Smoak on the bench.

That is really pissing me off. With Edwin nursing that shoulder there is no reason he needs to be diving for balls when we have a better hitter than Navarro (.677 OPS) and better D than Edwin on the bench.

Gibby made two good relief moves today. First he pulled hutch before he could give up the big hit,

second he put Osuna in for the 4 out save

Credit where Credit is due.

You could have argued Loup should have been in the batter before to face Gallo, so no it wasn't a good move.

I dont understand why Boxcar keeps mentioning single worst incidents of game management in order to convince us that Gibby is not bad.

Yeah it's irrelevant and pointless. Cherry picking at it's worst.
