Jose is 4th among AL outfielders in WAR and he has a much better track record than Lorenzo Cain. He deserves to be there.

some people who are voting for Donaldson are just taking him along for the ride. the same way Royals fans are stuffing the ballots for their players. That's why Ed and Jose are in the running as well. Neither deserve to be there. Russel Martin does.

 

Bautista is tied at 4th in WAR for AL outfielders. He absolutely deserves to be there. He's second only to Trout (since Cruz is voted in as a DH) in wRC+, Bautista has been an elite player this year.

Actually, Cain is 3rd in WAR for American League outfielders, he does deserve to be there. He plays elite defense, is a great baserunner, as has been a good hitter (120 wRC+).

Donaldson probably be asked to be part of the HRD. not sure I want him to... hate the risks.

 

HRD is pretty much just batting practice which Im sure JD takes almost daily anyways. I don't think there's much risk involved at all.

All this whining and bitching about players playing one extra game in 3+ days and maybe some televised batting practice like they'll be joining Warsaw concentration camps in 1940 during this time. Does anyone actually have stats showing that players show signs of fatigue or declination of production two weeks immediately following the game?

 

Oh no, they have to travel on a luxury chartered jet to the location of the game...this is going to be a hell of tasking experience for these guys.

 

People may laugh at the ASG, but it has always been for the casual fans and kids...and believe it or not, they are paying fans just like anyone here who aspires to be the next Billy Beane. I won't be watching it but i'm fine with those who do enjoy it. The only real point of discontent is with it deciding home field advantage in the World Series...another f***ing Selig legacy for you...Manfred has been showing signs of not being a complete incompetent at his job. Maybe he'll remove this stipulation in time for next year's game.
