I think people know this, it's his defense that is great, although Cola has been decent lately at first.

He makes one good stretch at first last night and suddenly the whole argument of Smoak's superior D gets thrown out the window.

I'm really just so far beyond caring at this point. I do think it's funny how people look for things to complain about, though.

Do you have serious reading comprehension issues? I never said anything to indicate to say Smoaks D gets thrown out the window, you are seeing things that don't exist, in fact I explicitly said his D is great. Herp Derp. The irony is you are the one complaining, over something that was never implied or said.

A little surprised it isn't Smoak in the lineup. Its not as if he has hit bad this series, had a hard hit ball last night and a HR the night before. Hitting as a LH he could take advantage of that short left but whatever Gibby gon Gibbs.

It's Fenway park, everybody can take advantage.

Can we please bring the grey aways back now that we've finally lost a series even when wearing those supposedly lucky Alternate Blues?

Blues are nicer. They are the blue jays after all..

They are nice indeed. IMO though it's overworn as an alternate since they wear it for all the away games now, plus also the afternoon home games. It's pretty much become our "Main"... I've seen some teams go alternates happy but never to this kind of full time degree. I also have a soft spot for the grey aways as they're very similar to our grey away jersey from the WS years, plus I guess I'm more of a traditionalist type. I'm just baffled most at how they've just kind of informally discontinued using it altogether...

I agree, I'm getting tired of the blues. It's supposed to be an alternate jersey, should be worn once a week at most. The white home jerseys are the nicest, and I prefer the greys on the road as well. The blue is nice to mix it up but not to wear daily.

Yea by the looks of the forecast doubtful there is a game tonight.

When would the double header be, tm or one of the weekend days?

I think Washington was the last time we had a double header and I believe we split that one... started the first 11 game winning streak IIRC? Definitely wouldn't mind a repeat of that!

supposed to Rain a lot this weekend in the Bronx.... If the rain is not tooo bad they will try and squeeze it in i am guessing. Don't want to get tooo many games behind.

pretty disappointed you didn't drop a bringer of rain line in there.

Well I don't know but I'm guessing they aim for early Friday if weather permits. With rain scheduled Saturday they probably want flexibility with that afternoon game to move it later if needed. At this time Sunday is just rain free but having a double header on the last day of a series would be the worst case scenario for the Yankees who begin a series on Monday with the Rays in Florida. We have an off day Monday so double header Sunday would actually be ideal for us.

The main thing I am worried about is if they try to force in the game today with Price starting and the play gets constantly suspended/called off, in worst case scenario before the 5th inning so that the game doesn't end up official... Definitely would!'t want to be wasting a Price start in a PPD game...

If we end up playing in the rain this wkend I hope that we can come out of the gates firing right away with ppd after 5th inning being a possibility.

Yankees wouldn't want to waste a start either and it's their call prior to game time if they want to cancel it based on field conditions. After that it's out of their hands as well.

What are the stats on double headers. I'm guessing statistically the chances of a team winning two games in a double header is slightly over 50% but it seems to me, more often than not, double headers are split.

There are way too many factors that come in to play to generalize it that way though, of course most specifically would be the two teams playing, the depth of those teams, and the starters of those games. If all things are equal the home team would probably have the edge because historically teams have better home records than away.

One area I feel we would have the advantage in a double header situation is the depth of the good bullpen guys. We could split to Cecil-Sanchez-Osuna and Hendriks-Lowe-Hawkins and I'd feel comfortable with both. And if Price is involved in one of those games, we can depend on him to go long anyway to save the pen (barring suspended play by rain delay). Yanks probably don't have this luxury... Would Girardi be daring enough to use Betances-Miller for both games of the double header I wonder..?
