CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 This forum is not enough. How can we make this go viral?
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 So working-class schlubs are going to finance a guy's $200M+ contract so that one of the biggest corporations in the country can make even bigger profits? Great idea.
TBJ12 Verified Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 I'm ok with letting Rogers cover the tab. If the Jays make a deep run into the playoffs I'm sure the money will be there to sign Price. Do we really want to give 1 player 200+ million though? I'd rather spend that cash elsewhere, 200 million could buy you a few quality players.
Leonard15 Verified Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 I think if the Jays come up short in the postseason they need to go all in again for 2016 just like they did after they lost in the 1991 ALCS Pat Gillick went out and got Dave Winfield & Jack Morris that offseason. Since from what I read they have little or no prospects to build upon they need to go all in again and re-sign Price and fill in any other holes that need to be fixed. In short we basically need a World Series banner hung in either 2015 or 2016 the latest!

Great idea. I hope the people who shed $100 each get like a free ticket to a Blue Jays game each year and a David Price jersey.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Raise the money and donate it to charity on behalf of Price.

BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Raise the money and donate it to charity on behalf of Price. Sure what ever the Price wants! If it goes to a Charity even better! Cool ps provided he signs!

BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 A new Kickstarter swindle for the SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY crowd. Not if I am involved, my word is my bond! if this becomes a thing you will thank me! And we can have it all legal like too and registered as a fund somehow I imagine too!

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 So Kawa goes down to add Pennington? Too bad, Kawa seems to be up when Jays' put together winning streaks! And Travis was injured as well for the 11-gamer...trade him?
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 I was thinking, that money AA saved in the off season has come in handy. I'm referring to Lind for Estrada and Happ for Saunders plus signing Smoak.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 I was thinking, that money AA saved in the off season has come in handy. I'm referring to Lind for Estrada and Happ for Saunders plus signing Smoak. Lind would look great in our 4 hole between Edwin and Bautista
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Lind would look great in our 4 hole between Edwin and Bautista He would. However, Lind + Happ are getting 14M combined while Estrada + Saunders + Smoak are getting around 8M. It may not seem like a ton, but clearly, every million helps given how close to the budget limit they got after the Marlins trade.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 That's okay Lind is not better than Edwin and I'd take Edwin over Lind. Neither of them should be playing 1B
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 That's okay Lind is not better than Edwin and I'd take Edwin over Lind. Neither of them should be playing 1B Plus, Lind = 1.9 fWAR at 7.5M vs Estrada = 1.6 fWAR at 4M. Every million counts
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Plus, Lind = 1.9 fWAR at 7.5M vs Estrada = 1.6 fWAR at 4M. Every million counts I don't even think its a discussion because a contending team needs a good 1B. We saw the difference last two games with Smoak. Very important to make those plays

Very important to make those plays I agree. Plus, I look at it as a combination of moves. By trading Lind, they got Estrada. By trading Happ, they got Saunders. By signing Smoak they gave themselves some depth at 1B while improving the D. Result: Estrada replaced Happ. Saunders plugged the LF hole and Smoak helped them at 1B. Now, Saunders has been injured, but they didn't get him for just 1 year, he'll be back next year. All this with a lower payroll than it would've cost to retain Lind, Happ and to sign a LF.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Instead of that maybe Rogers can have a cell phone service drive. 2 million new signups to $100+ a month two-year contracts should get he job done...$4.8 billion + right there.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 As a fan it's worth $100 to me to sign Price As a fan of not giving more money to corporations than necessary, I would rather personally kiss his ass goodbye than participate in a fund drive which I am hoping is just a joke/drunk rant (I'm looking at the OP) rather than something people are actually serious about!

Great idea. I think it's a dumb idea, but we'd atleast get to see a team win. There have been crowdfunding campaigns for celebrities to make movies. That has to be 10x as bad.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Jays bullpen moves into top 10 after today's game. Getting carried by Osuna (1.3 fWAR) and Hendriks (1.2 fWAR). Top 3 by xFIP:

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Anyone else surprised to find themselves thinking that Price and Dickey look like a pretty killer 1-2 punch for the playoffs??
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Dickey still makes me wonder, to be honest.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 I can't believe that today I found myself considering playoff matchups Jays >>>> Astros
