LRC1962 Verified Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Worst bullpen in the world Sarcasm! All season bullpen has been rail against as terrible by fans and media. And NY thinks theirs is untouchable.
admin Site Manager Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Hard to believe we're only 14-6 with the best pitching and hitting in the league.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Now that they've made the predictable announcement that Price is going to get an extra day off after tomorrow's start to set up another match against the Yankees on Friday, here's his revised tentative schedule: 08/03 v Minnesota Twins --------- (W) 5-1 08/08 @ New York Yankees -------- 08/14 v New York Yankees -------- 08/19 @ Philadelphia Phillies --- 08/25 @ Texas Rangers ----------- 08/30 v Detroit Tigers ---------- 09/04 v Baltimore Orioles ------- 09/10 @ New York Yankees -------- 09/15 @ Atlanta Braves ---------- 09/20 v Red Sox ----------------- 09/25 v Tampa Bay Rays ---------- 09/30 @ Baltimore Orioles ------- A few big changes. Delaying his next start by one day will actually knock three days off his schedule because of how off-days and the following Yankee starts will set up, and this will in turn cost the Jays one start by Price (he'll no longer get a start in the last series of the season at the Trop). Some other changes: obviously he'll now face the Yankees four times instead of three, he'll get two starts against the Orioles where before he had none, and he won't get any starts against the Angels or the Athletics.

Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Price has been awful his last 2 starts against the Yankees. Only went 2 innings. Weird interview on the rundown. The interviewer asks about seeing Pricce's GPA. It's really odd, around 4:10 . http://m.mlb.com/tor/video/v342715583/price-joins-the-rundown-to-talk-blue-jays

Hope he proves to the baseball world he can beat the Yanks.
LRC1962 Verified Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Price has been awful his last 2 starts against the Yankees. Only went 2 innings. Price knows his last 2 starts vs NYY were awful, to a pitcher of his elite level that is a very big motivating factor to do well this time out and prove he is a very good pitcher. Second, ARD had an amazing game, and the knuckleball factor, although dissed by some is a known problem especially if you struggled. NYY bat time will probably be off as a result, therefore give greater edge to Price. Little batting practice time to correct things as it is noon game, making matters worse.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Wow, 14 pitcher wins in 14 wins. Pretty efficient.

So will they just be sticking with the same rotation as this past week? Estrada (Thurs. July 30 against Royals), Hutchison (Fri. July 31 against Royals), Buehrle (Sat. Aug 1 against Royals), Dickey (Sun. Aug 2 against Royals), Price (Mon. Aug 3 against Twins), Estrada (Tues. Aug 4 against Twins), Hutchison (Wed. Aug 5 against Twins), Buehrle (Thurs. Aug 6 against Twins), Dickey (Fri. Aug 7 against Yankees), Price (Sat. Aug 8 against Yankees), Estrada (Sun. Aug 9 against Yankees), day off (Mon Aug 10), Hutchison (Tues. Aug 11 against A's), Buehrle (Wed. Aug 12 against A's), Dickey (Thurs. Aug 13 against A's), Price (Fri. Aug 14 against Yankees), repeat ...? I know Zaun mentioned a couple times having Hutchison miss a couple starts, but it appears that Gibbons is keeping the current 5 pitcher rotation. This seems to be best to me since I want Price to pitch next Friday, August 14 against the Yankees.

Jays are going to give Hutch plenty of opportunity to find his late 2014 groove, leading into the offseason There is no SP depth. Sticking with a 5 man rotation maximizes the chance everyone stays healthy
nextyear Verified Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 That one against Kansas City where we came all the way back and Reyes booted the ball still stings I feel bad for Reyes, and I wonder what will happen with him next year. However, I am glad to have Tulowitzki on the Blue Jays. Aside from this, Valencia had a home run last night and went 2 for 3 - http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2015_08_07_houmlb_oakmlb_1#game=2015_08_07_houmlb_oakmlb_1,game_tab=box,game_state=Wrapup. It is good to see Valencia doing well. Interestingly, Valencia played 3B and Lawrie played 2B, as Lawrie did occasionally in Toronto.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Also, anyone know how tv ratings be doing?

Made me feel so uncomfortable just watching it. Price knows his last 2 starts vs NYY were awful He does, and he obviously knows how to bounce back from those kind of performances. His last start as a Tiger was against the Rays and he was awful. He later admitted that he was putting unnecessary pressure on himself to beat his old team and how he tried to straighten that out in his first start for the Jays. Looks like it worked. Sets him up for the WC game or 1st game of the playoff series if they win div. He was already set up to start the wild card game, now he'll just get way more rest than he needs prior to it. Also, anyone know how tv ratings be doing? The Price start drew 1.39M, highest in Jays history behind Opening Day 2013 which drew 1.40M. They're averaging something like 650K-ish I think?
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Today's lineup (source: ) I love it. Gibby isn't f***ing around in our biggest series of the year going with defense and keeping Colabello and Navarro glued to the bench.
theblujay Verified Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 It would be great to have someone on the bench who could play outfield
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 It would be great to have someone on the bench who could play outfield Like Ben Revere for example?
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 going with 3 bench players still. wonder how long we have to carry an 8 man pen.
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Schultz needs to go down and Pompey up.

They're averaging something like 650K-ish I think? Thanks. Have we seen a spike since the surge? I would think the average will go up with the team in contention over the next 50 games. Also, the increased post-game coverage might indicate the numbers being up and Rogers reacting to them. I don't know how much extra revenue this would generate, but I wonder extra revenue from the trades should be included in calculated the value of the trades. Or maybe it already is included.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Schultz needs to go down and Pompey up. Yeah. It would allow Gibbons to give Pillar a day off here and there. He has been struggling lately.
