bluebird Verified Member Posted June 15, 2015 Author Posted June 15, 2015 I honestly don't think I would trade Hoffman straight up for a #2 right now. I'd be pretty hesitant to trade Norris, Castro or Pompey as well... Those are guys who can have short AND long term impact on this team. Also, lol at sunders. You must be big on saunder's .He's made of glass with a little pop and bad average imo.I look at this team as the cleveland cav's in basketball ,they gave up the best prospect in the world and other young player's for a chance to win this year.Question is are you willing to kill your future for a good chance this year.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 He's played in Seattle for the past few years and you're trying to say he only has little pop and bad "average?"

I think you're severely overrating Hoffman here bro. Are you saying you wouldn't trade Hoffman for Stroman? Also, if you were joking, it went completely over my head.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 230 average over 7 years is great? Seattle impacts his environment. In his last three years, he posted wRC+ marks of 108, 100, and 126, which ranges from very good to average.

So, Poe's law? You're pretending to be really dumb because you think it's funny, right? I sincerely hope that's the thing.

Also, if you were joking, it went completely over my head. A) Stroman is probably close to a #1 at this point... Stroman has a billion years of control. If we could get someone with Stroman's upside, youth and years of control for Hoffman, obviously I do that... But a #2 that's being sold right now does NOT have many years of control, or upside...

To call Stroman a #1 based on 130 innings is probably a bit premature.

That's the big thing. The aces or #2s that are available will likely be rentals. When you look at where this team is at, I'd rather go for some cheap rentals in-season and go hard after some of the FA SP in the off season to lead the staff and have the young guys as depth. On the other hand, I doubt the Jays are at the top of any FA's list.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 EE and Castro for Carlos Carrasco. Jays get potentially the better player (with a better contract), offense is still better than average without EE. Shapiro doesn't have to worry about his job but it doesn't mean that desperation won't set in. Jays fans s***...would be nice to see if AA has the balls to trade an existing piece for improvement and longer term during the season.

Also, if you were joking, it went completely over my head. For a pitcher with that much control and surplus value of course, but that's not in the cards. Not worth a half season of Cueto or a paid Hamels.

Also EE will have 10 and 5 rights in the couple weeks if he doesn't already have it IIRC. EE would never accept a trade to Cleveland lol.
