jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 They are leading their division http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/06/mets-looking-to-trade-starter-soon-have-had-preliminary-talks-with-brewers.html
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 I would like to trade every player we have who is 28 years old or older who is currently not on the 40 man roster. I would like several aces in return.
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Imo we don't add to the starting pitching unless it's a cheaper acquisition cost salary dump by someone. We should be able to get a fairly decent reliever or two without subtracting one of our top arms though. We have our rotation set up for the future with Stroman, Hoffman, Norris, Sanchez, Hutch, and a few other guys who could go to either starting or relieving. I don't want to see us mortgage that for a shot at the post season, then spend another 10 years rebuilding. We know from experience it's nearly impossible to get top starting pitchers to come to Toronto, even if we're willing to overpay them. Build the pitching from within, and buy the bats (especially after they remove the turf). I hope your wrong because if we dont get a top flight starter this team has no shot at any serious contention imo.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 What about one of the Mets starters? What would it take to get a guy like Niese? IMO something like Matt Boyd and a B prospect like DSJr For a real frontend pitcher I'd be offering up Hutch + Castro + DSJr + Navarro and hope it was enough
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 I hope your wrong because if we dont get a top flight starter this team has no shot at any serious contention imo. And the season was over 2 weeks ago. We'll see what happens.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 They are leading their division I know, but I thought I read somewhere that they were trying to deal Gee and Niese. On the other hand, I don't want AA dealing with Alderson again...
JuniorFelix Verified Member Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Hamels and Papelbon For Pentecost, SRF and Castro. That is fair to me if there is some salary retention on their side.
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 And the season was over 2 weeks ago. We'll see what happens. Except it wasn't? THe hitting is not going to keep this pace.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 IMO something like Matt Boyd and a B prospect like DSJr That's the thing, I'd rather first go after salary dump type of guys and give up less. You need cheap, controllable depth like Boyd and DSJ could provide. For a real frontend pitcher I'd be offering up Hutch + Castro + DSJr + Navarro and hope it was enough Yeah, that's where I don't want to go. Given what AA gave up for Dickey, I think he'll give up more than that, likely Norris.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Except it wasn't? THe hitting is not going to keep this pace. Of course the hitting won't keep up this pace, just like the pitching wasn't as s***** as it was earlier in the season. We'll see what they do, if anything.

Would love to trade Norris for an ace
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 For Pentecost, SRF and Castro. That is fair to me if there is some salary retention on their side. I think without salary retention, that's a fair deal.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Would love to trade Norris for an ace It's gonna take more than Norris and will likely be for a rent-an-Ace.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 I wonder if teams will take Ryan Goins. Should be able to land a decently mediocre pitcher.
Gorlak Verified Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Just thought i would throw it out there and see who you guy's would be fine with to lose for pitching.I will start off with navarro, goins ,dickey, saunders What team selling a starter would want any of those players, maybe Goins, but he could only net a filler reliever. I would move Pentecost for the right pitcher, Norris++ if the can get Cueto and Chapman. Wouldn't trade Hoffman, really the only prospect I wouldn't trade.

If the Jays were getting a true ace like Felix, Hamels, etc then I'd take the 2nd package. I don't want to see a rental come in unless it's a mid-rotation starter (like Niese) that will come fairly cheap.

DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Felix? wat He's not available, I just love Felix and that's the kind of pitcher I'd go all-in on.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Pillar, Goins, DSJ, Smoral, SRF, DJ Davis, Boyd, and EE (!) are guys I would have no plm moving for pitching
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 If Norris + Castro + Pentecost + can get Chapman and Cueto I'd be all over it. When is Chapman FA? I'd move him to the rotation lol
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 I think he's under control through 2017.

goeb Verified Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Its tough to say....We will have to see how the Jays look in late July, if they have a strong lead then I would risk some prospects for a #2 starter and maybe a sport starter/long reliever. I just don't want t fall between two stools here.
jays76 Verified Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Hamels and Papelbon I really believe this is a deal that would happen if Hamels was willing to come here.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 goins, dickey ,navarro, pompey, sunders, norris, castro, hoffman for a number 2 I honestly don't think I would trade Hoffman straight up for a #2 right now. I'd be pretty hesitant to trade Norris, Castro or Pompey as well... Those are guys who can have short AND long term impact on this team. Also, lol at sunders.
