I mean, I agree that it's kinda ridiculous to say that a draft prospect, especially a guy like Martin, is guaranteed to make the majors, but isn't it nearly as bad to practically guarantee that one guy will get drafted ahead of another, a year in advance?

 

Well you're projecting 1 year versus 3-5. Pint and Hansen are supposed to be phenoms so who knows. They'd be in the #1 convo for this draft, I think.

 

Just from what I've read, of course. I'm nowhere near as good a scout as North.

I would call his bluff and take him, knowing that it's not the end of the world if he doesn't sign, getting a compensation pick in a deeper draft next year. Nothing in the draft is 100%. Nobody ever thought Alford would sign either.
