KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Reyes has cleared waivers sooooo lets see where he ends up now! I'm guessing nowhere. Why would you make a waiver claim on that tire fire of a contract?
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 The fan in me wants to bring back Reyes ;[. If only he could play left field..
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 I'm guessing nowhere. Why would you make a waiver claim on that tire fire of a contract? Yankees have a big hole a 2B and with the Jays overtaking them can you see them taking a chance.

Why would you make a waiver claim on that tire fire of a contract?. I liked Reyes but fear he is near done. Even though the money is a virtual wash and the term for Tulo is longer, as long as he stays reasonably healthy that's a much better asset. At least if need be it's moveable. Reyes at the point is not unless it's a dump with other assets someone else really wants.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Yankees have a big hole a 2B and with the Jays overtaking them can you see them taking a chance. No. If they wanted Reyes, they would have worked out something before the first deadline. No way would they risk having Colorado just dump the contract on them like the Jays did to Chicago with Rios. That being said, I think Colorado might be dumn enough to pull back Reyes but who'd want to risk it?
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Reyes - oft injured talented offensive catalyst that is below avg defensively. Plus arm and showing a bit better range 2015. Ignoring whether he would willingly move positions or not and what team he would be on, is 2nd or the OF the optimum option for him as he ages? AAA is best. Apparently he thinks he deserves to be a ss on a winner according to something I read the other day. It really must be eating him up inside seeing how well the jays are doing, I'm sure the self realization will come soon enough if it hasn't already that he just can't play ss on winning team.
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 reyes won't be traded anywhere unless Colorado agrees to pay at least half the remaining contract. He's not a $22million player. Going forward with his defence I think its a stretch to say he will be an $11million player
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 I always thought he'd be better at 3rd than 2nd. But what the f*** do I know big problem with him at third is that he absolutely sucks complete s*** going to his left for ground balls.. looks like a 70 year old going to his right he just looks s***** - like a 45 year old his defense is atrocious and his bat won't play as a DH he is done. great move by AA

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2015 Author Posted August 24, 2015 Reyes saying he is at the point in his career that he wants to win....doesn't like being in Colorado. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/reyes-im-at-the-point-in-my-career-that-i-want-to-win/ I liked the player and the personality but it seems ironic to me that he would be saying that only now in his career. After watching Tulo live in LA yesterday save a couple runs I don't regret this deal at all.

Because he has his money now...As much as people like to think that winning is a big factor in where players are more likely to sign as FA's, money is always #1, 2, and 3 on the list. Winning, and closeness to home are closer to 5-6 on the list. Reyes has his money...now he's looking at the winning part.

Complete revelation.

So what you're saying is the argument has never been made that a player will sign somewhere because it's closer to home or because it'll give him a 'better chance to win'? You're gonna hear the 'winning' argument a thousand times for when it's time to go after David Price.

If he actually wants to be traded, he can go to the GM and say hey lets re-write my contract to what I'm actually worth and then I'll publicly say I'm willing to play 2B, SS or any position a manager wants me to play.
ValiantJaysFan Verified Member Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Unfortunately for Reyes I don't think he is conducive to a winning ball club, at least not at SS. A willingness to move to 2B might help him.

Feeling surly.
