Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 You guys want to hear something even more depressing Count the number of baseball players on the current roster actually developed by This Franchise I count Pillar and Goins in the lineup. Hutchison, Sanchez, and Cecil on the pitching side. Isn`t that pretty sad. Even the good players we have were developed by other Franchises. All of the middle order, just about every impact roster player. Out of the list above only Hutchison and Cecil are worthy of the majors right now really. I'd take getting guys like Bautista, EE and Donaldson for cents on the dollar (Donaldson was a heftier price) than developing your own talent everyday of the week. I don't care if Bautista was developed by the Raptors, all that matters is that we got him practically for free.

The baseball draft has always been a crap shot. I mean, you can do this for a lot of teams. The biggest thing with the Jays has been their ability to get / trade for talent like Bautista, Eddy, JD, Saunders. Even Lawrie, Escobar and Rasmus before they were traded. This is just the norm of how a lot of baseball teams operate. E: With that being said, yea JPR dropped the ball often in drafts. Drafting with AA overall has been better from what I can tell.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 I pray this is the last year we ever see Dickey in a Jays uniform .... Same with Buehrle--he's a free agent after this season. As for Dickey, he has a $1M buyout after this season..
admin Site Manager Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Dickey's O-Swing%: 2012 - 33.4 2013 - 28.1 2014 - 27.3 2015 - 24.1 Fastball Velo: 2012 - 83.0 2013 - 81.6 2014 - 81.5 2015 - 80.7 I mentioned velocity when we traded for him and how it could play a factor but was told 'knuckleballers are different'. I can't stand Dickey. This team simply can't go on a roll with him in the rotation. I text my buddy before the game, "Three game win streak, time for Dickey to put it to an end." Every time we get some momentum going Dickey is up and puts an end to it.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
