The right-hander assumed a spot in the starting rotation when the Blue Jays optioned left-hander Daniel Norris on Friday. Estrada, acquired in a trade for Adam Lind in the offseason, has allowed one earned run in 10 2/3 innings with the Blue Jays in a relief role. He started for Milwaukee last season, when he posted a 7-6 record with a 4.36 ERA in 18 starts. The right-hander surrendered 29 homers over 150 2/3 innings in 2014. Yankees: Big righty Michael Pineda will make his sixth start of the season for the first-place Yankees. Pineda, who's won his last five decisions, is a career 1-2 with a 3.93 ERA in six starts against Toronto. He'll be pitching on an extended five days' rest. Pineda has enjoyed success against some of the Blue Jays' most dangerous bats. He's limited Jose Bautista (2-for-17) and Edwin Encarnacion (4-for-16) to a combined .182 average over his career. Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Gibbons probably wants Smoak to get a start as not lose hope
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Jesus that lineup. Tough one against Pineda.
baubau Verified Member Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Gibbons probably wants Smoak to get a start as not lose hope It is a shame that Smoak has been riding the bench for the season so far. After Navvy went down I bet he was excited and then Jose got injured. Poor guy, can't catch a break. While he has looked good in small sample sizes so far I hope he can eventually get a consistent string of games going. Also, can we take time to appreciate what a gong show the Navarro situation is? - Jays stated they could have traded him long ago if they wanted to get rid of his salary - Held onto him in hopes that another team's catcher is injured to drive up value - Gets injured himself and has now had setbacks on his return date - Currently overpaying for injured a backup bench catcher which they could have gotten rid of long ago For a team that has payroll concerns paying Navarro to do nothing is just a different level of bad asset management stupid.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Apparently Buehrle is hurt too and might even go on the DLat some point according to TSN. This team has such awful depth. Were barely into May and the bottom half of the lineup is garbage.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 LMAO can also add DAnny Valencia to the injured list as he sprained his ankle walking on steps. "Fluke"
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Awful depth, missing half the team...hurrrrrr......

Governator Community Moderator Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 I thought his name was Michael Pinetarda
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Pineda has been lethal this year. Going to be a really tough game tonight.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Really short bench tonight with pretty much no substitution possibilities. In a pinch Thole can catch, Martin can go to third, Donaldson to short and Goins or Travis can go to the OF.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 I'm rooting pretty hard for Estrada. If he blows up, we'll never hear the end of it.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 I'm rooting pretty hard for Estrada. If he blows up, we'll never hear the end of it. Same, especially for a guy who hasn't been stretched out besides a side session.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Saunders is like reyes, anything you get out of him is a bonus.. but doesn't cost 22mil
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 lol...we're roughing it. Probably won't last long.. Tolleson's cleared waivers and likely will be back on the team within a few days, possibly as early as tomorrow.
