jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Makes sense. Pumped for Saunders.
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 least surprising news of the day, I wonder how long francis stays on the roster
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Punishment for bad OF play and Goins actually being able to play SS: Probably the plan all along. With 4 OFs, a backup infielder who can play ss in Goins and a better right-handed bench bat in Valencia, defensively mediocre super utility guy on the short side of the platoon is just not a need right now.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 I don't mind Tolleson but with Valencia and Pillar as bench options he is useless to have. Good move.
LTR Verified Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Makes sense. Pumped for Saunders. Same. Not in love with Pillar... I just hope they make the right choice and move Pillar to 4th OF and not Pompey...
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 kinda feel bad for him...this is his career we're talking about...he must have known he was f***ed after those plays. s*****. Hopefully he doesn't beat himself up over those plays because the honest truth is there was no room for him. Pillar is a better 4th OF, Goins a better backup shortstop and Valencia a better right-handed bat off the bench. He's a decent player for a very short bench or a 2nb base platoon but he's simply not needed here.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Same. Not in love with Pillar... I just hope they make the right choice and move Pillar to 4th OF and not Pompey... I would say there is a 0% chance Pillar takes over for Pompey.
LTR Verified Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 I would say there is a 0% chance Pillar takes over for Pompey. And he's going to throw a hissyfit like the world has never seen.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 There's no possible way he doesn't get claimed, especially in the NL.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 You fellas ever heard of Waivers?

He's a decent backup middle IF who can hit LH pitching decently enough. He was just put in a bad spot tonight. Oh well Same. Not in love with Pillar... KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Waivers man? What about waivers?
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Yeah I feel bad for him too but he will get picked up by another team for sure!
LTR Verified Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Classy guy “It was a tough day in general, one I’d really like to forget about,” said Tolleson. “This game has a lot of ups and downs, it’s bounced my way a lot of times. I’m very thankful for my time here in Toronto, I expressed that to Alex [Anthopoulos] and Gibby [John Gibbons]. They’re the first team to give me an opportunity to show what I can do, I’m forever thankful for that. It’s disappointing, there are a lot of good things going on in this clubhouse, take today aside, and there are a lot of things to be excited about. In many ways I hope I find my way back here, but the ultimate goal is to be in the big leagues and it’s looking like it’s not going to be with this team right now. Hopefully it will be with someone else.”
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 today was not Tolleson's fault. he was put in a position to fail just as a stay of execution. He was getting released no matter what. shame they had to embarrass him first
bronson44 Verified Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Classy guy Pure class right there. Wish him and his family well wherever they wind up.
fireballW Verified Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 It sucks that Tolleson can't play the outfield defensively like Pillar. This team has done a good job at getting rid of douchebags, making the team much more fun to watch. The only one that's really left is Pillar. Last years hiss fit definitely wasn't a one off thing, he seems like a cocky little prick. Tolleson seems all class, really wish him well.

Toronto douchebag list: Jose Bautista (when you got game people tend to forget you are a douche) R.A Dickey (douche type of face) Jose Reyes (pussy douche, ironic?) Josh Donaldson (anyone that names their twitter handle Bringerofrain20 is a douche) Daniel Norris (hipster douche) Kevin Pillar (toddler douche, will soon grow into teen douche) Clearly lots of douchebags left, but if you look around the league, I'd say we are in the bottom half of douchebags to 25 man roster ratio.
North of 60 Verified Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Guy's a spare. Nothing to see here, move along. Just glad the Jays aren't holding onto players because they are "character" or "classy" guys.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 No reason for Pillar to hissy fit.... he'll get his reps
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Maybe the Jays can sell high on Pillar if/when DSJ is hitting well in Buffalo.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Any reports on his D? Don't want Rajai level D from a 4th OF I assume he plays good D since he's black...lol. But seriously, Pillar wasn't supposed to be this good on D although it's SSS. Pillar seems like a D-Backs type of player, maybe they'll take him with Navarro for a pitcher. For the record, I'm not a Pillar haterz, just like looking to sell high on some players.

Pillar is a MLB'er, just not as good as he thinks he is. Which can cause a problem. Needs to accept his role without complaint.
